Mehndi represents the bond of matrimony and is therefore, considered a ‘shagun’. It signifies the love and affection between the couple and their families.
Applying mehndi to the bride before the wedding, is one of the oldest Indian traditions. The ceremony, however, entails an elaborate application of mehndi designs on a bride’s hands and feet. As for the groom, a mere token of application of henna is a mark of good omen.
Lagna means marriage and Lagna Geet are songs sung for the upcoming wedding. Weddings are joyous social occasions and the music reflects all the emotions associated with the occasion. A number of themes are used to create beautiful poetry which is sung spontaneously in very melodious tunes.

The four pheras each signify "Dharma", "Artha", "Kama" and "Moksha" respectively and are the four pillars of a happy married life. After every round, the brother of the bride hands them puffed rice to be offered to sacred fire.
