We met through Young Life in 2016 at UNC Charlotte. I met Sam at the first Young Life College event my freshman year, and had the biggest crush on him. I also thought he was way older than me and he was on staff. I literally gave this man my Fall Weekend money and form. Turns out he was actually only a sophomore. After slowly becoming friends, we both confessed we had feelings for each other, but didn't want to date. However, after our entire Young Life community found out, things became very awkward for us, and we actually "hated" each other for the next several months to come. However, though I denied it, I still had a crush on him, and hated it! Come Summer 2018, we both were at Carolina Point with our high school friends for Summer Camp. There, a group of us leaders had a deep conversation that lasted hours one night (#Night5) and that night, Sam knew he made a mistake (lol). Come to follow that trip, we became very close friends and talked almost everyday about anything and everything. Ironically, it was that same time period that I wrote in a journal that I was fully surrendering this idea of a boyfriend to the Lord, after years of desiring and awaiting that, knowing I was not in control. Word for word, I prayed the lord would put it on a boys heart to pursue me. Two weeks to the day, Sam asked me on a date. The rest is history. We clicked, and everything was completely orchestrated by the Lord. He asked me to be his girlfriend on October 11th. A year later, on that same day, he took me to dinner at kindred in Davidson to celebrate our anniversary. Afterwards, I suggested going to Jetton Park to open gifts, where there he then asked me to be his WIFE. Only to then be surprised by my mom and his parents there taking photos- I walked RIGHT into that one. He knows me all to well. 2 years (ish) of friendship, a year of dating, and forever to go!!
