We would recommend trying to fly INTO the Naples International Airport (NAP). There are 3 options we would advise to get there:
1) Search connecting flights into Naples International Airport (NAP) from different airlines (offered from your starting destination [LAX, PHX, DFW, PNS, etc.] to ... Examples: Munich, Istanbul, Frankfurt, etc.). This MIGHT be a more expensive option, but could cut down on overall travel times/expenses.
2) A direct flight into Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) and take a brief flight (either that day or the next day) to Naples, Italy (NAP) - which is a 1 HOUR flight for roughly €73 ($76 USD) - not including taxi/hotel if you need one for the night.
3) *OPTIONAL* Fly into Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) and either take the train or a bus to Vietri sul Mare [probably most cost efficient - BUT can be more complicated]. NOTE: If it takes you 2 flights to get to Rome, Italy, plan your train/bus ride accordingly in case you have a luggage delay.
Most trains depart by 10:15 PM (3hr) / Most busses to Vietri sul Mare require 2 changes (4hr min) and the last one departs by: 10:50 AM (4 hr)
*IMPORTANT* - If you're going to do 2 flights to Rome, we might recommend just trying to find 2 flights to Naples, Italy (because you would only be a 40 minute car ride from the destination - as opposed to a 3 hour train/bus ride from Rome to Vietri sul Mare).

When you are looking for your flight trip home, we would recommend trying to find connecting flights back to the United States FROM Naples International Airport back home.
*NOTE: If you opted for a round-trip flight back home from Rome, Italy to the United States, please account for optimal time to get you from your flight/train/bus to the Rome Airport, AT LEAST 3 HOURS prior to you take-off time.

We’ve arranged a convenient transportation option for our guests traveling to the Amalfi Coast. Our trusted driver, Michele, is available to pick you up from Naples Airport and drive you to your hotel or Airbnb in Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, or any town on the Amalfi Coast.

TAXI / RIDE SHARE:
You can schedule a car prior to your arrival that will meet you at the Naples Airport and drive you to the Vietri sul Mare / Salerno / Sorrento area. There is a taxi station at the Naples Airport that you call once you get there.
If you would like to pre-book a private car, here are some suggestions:

Ride Share options are available abroad! You can go to the airport's ride-share location and call your Uber/Lyft.

RENT A CAR:
I would only advise this option for people who have driven on the Amalfi Coast before. The roads are extremely narrow and constantly bustling with mopeds and large tour busses.
Both Rome and Naples airports have car services that you can pre-book and have ready for you to pick up once you land. Hint: Don't forget to leave time to fill up the gas tank and return the car, when factoring in the time you should allocate for your flights.
Hint: If you opt to rent a home (AirBnB/VRBO) for your stay, make sure your rental can accommodate a car. Parking can be sparse and sometimes tricky.
TRAIN:
There are direct train routes from Naples to Vietri sul Mare! The fastest trains from Naples to Vietri sul Mare take around 1 hour and 8 minutes, covering a distance of approximately 45 kilometers. On weekdays and weekends, the first train leaving Naples is scheduled to depart at around 06:22. The last departure is usually at around 22:05. There are frequent services on this particular rail route. On average, there are about 46 trains per day travelling between the two cities. They leave approximately every 20 minutes. Prices for a single ticket between the two cities start from US$4.70.

PUDDLE JUMPER FLIGHT:
If you fly into Rome, there is an inexpensive option to take a puddle jumper flight from Rome to Naples. Flights from Rome to Naples depart on average 16 times per day, taking around 1h to 1hr 26m. Cheap flight tickets for this journey start at $80 (€73).
BUS: ROME TO VIETRI SUL MARE
The best way to find a cheap bus ticket from Rome to Vietri sul Mare is to book your journey as far in advance as possible and to avoid traveling at rush hour. The average ticket from Rome to Vietri sul Mare will cost around $15 if you buy it on the day, but the cheapest tickets can be found for only $10.
Of the 2 buses that leave Rome for Vietri sul Mare every day 1 travel direct so it’s quite easy to avoid journeys where you’ll have to change along the way.
On Wed, Jan 15 the direct buses cover the 232 km distance in an average of 6 h 1 m but if you time it right, some buses will get you there in just 3 h 15 m.

Buses from Rome to Naples run on average 37 times per day, taking around 2h 57m. Cheap bus tickets for t.his journey start at $6 (€5) if you book in advance. The average travel time from Rome to Naples is about 2h 45m, although the minimum time it takes to get there is 1h 30m with the fastest bus.

Of the 13 buses that leave Naples for Vietri sul Mare every day 13 travel direct so it’s quite easy to avoid journeys where you’ll have to change along the way.
On Wed, Jan 15 the direct buses cover the 44 km distance in an average of 1 h 2 m but if you time it right, some buses will get you there in just 55 m .
FERRY BOAT:
Cheap ferry tickets from Naples to Vietri sul Mare can start from as little as $4 (€4) when you book in advance. The average ferry ticket price for Naples to Vietri sul Mare is $15 (€13); however, prices vary depending on the time of day and class and they tend to be more expensive on the day.
