Where is the wedding?

The wedding will be held at Hirz Bay Group Campsite 2, a beautiful spot perfect for outdoor adventures! Guests can choose to stay on land (camping/airbnb/hotel) or on water (houseboating).

Can I stay on a houseboat during the week(end)?

Absolutely! Houseboats are a fun and encouraged option—but not required. They’ll be at your own planning and expense, and they offer the best access to the water throughout the stay. For rental suggestions, check out the Houseboats tab.

What is the camping situation like?

We’ve reserved group camping at Hirz Bay 1, just a short walk from the main event at Hirz Bay 2. The site can accommodate around 80 people in a large open area with room for tents, vans, and small trailers/RVs (though it’s best suited for tents). Restrooms are available onsite. Please bring your own camping gear. If you prefer a more private or quieter setup, we recommend reserving your own campsite at Hirz Bay Campground (these spots can be booked up to 6 months in advance). There are other campgrounds nearby at recreation.gov. Let us know in the RSVP questionnaire if you plan to camp at the group site so we can track capacity.

What about the hotels/airbnbs?

There are a handful of Airbnbs within a 10-minute drive of the campground, and the nearest hotels are about 30 minutes away. Most lodging options aren't directly on the water, so keep that in mind—especially with the heat—but parking at the campsite and accessing the lake will always be available during the day.

How long to stay?

Sierra and TJ are planning to stay for the full week—from Monday 6/22 to Monday 6/29 on a houseboat. Feel free to join for as long or short as you'd like! Just a heads-up: if you're camping, you might not want to pack up all your gear the morning after the wedding... especially if you're nursing a champagne-induced headache. Stay longer, relax, recover, and soak up the adventure!

Where to park cars and houseboats?

There’s plenty of car parking available in paved lots around the campgrounds. If you're renting a houseboat, we recommend beaching near Hirz Bay on the McCloud River Arm for easier access to boat shuttles. Water levels can vary year to year—so cross your fingers and pray for snow!

Will there be ride arrangements?

Shuttle boats are planned from houseboats to the campsite. Ubers/Lyfts are available in this area, but may be limited especially due to cell service constraints.

Can I bring kids or pets?

Kids and dogs are welcome BUT only if friendly with others of the same.

Is there cell service?

Service is spotty out at the lake, so consider this a great excuse to unplug for the weekend! Be sure to let friends and family know in advance. For a bit of fun (and function), bring walkie-talkies if you're feeling nostalgic—we plan to have a set at the wedding "command station" to help with coordination.

Will meals/alcohol be provided?

We’ll provide dinner and alcohol for the main wedding day. Otherwise, plan to BYO food/snacks/drinks or coordinate with your boat/camping crew.

What is the seating for the wedding?

We’re going full camping wedding style! We kindly ask that you bring your favorite camping chair—well-loved or a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new one. You’ll use it for both the ceremony and dinner, so make it something you’re happy to sit and toast in.

What's the schedule?

The full itinerary will be sent out closer to the date, but plan for a welcome bonfire, group swims, the ceremony, and lots of time to hang out under the stars.

Can I help with setup or decorations?

Yes, please! Since we’re working with a totally blank slate at the campsite, we’ll need help setting up tables, chairs, and décor to turn it into something magical. That said—it will be hot, it will be sweaty, and it will definitely involve some actual work (lifting, possibly swearing). If you’re down to get a little dusty with us and help make the space beautiful, we’d love your help. Let us know in your RSVP or shoot us a message. No pressure at all—we totally get it if you'd rather stay chill and save your energy for dancing, tubing, or houseboat lounging.

How to get to Hirz Bay?

From Reno, Hirz Bay is about a 4 hour drive. From San Marcos, it is about a 11.5 hour drive. If the drive from SoCal is not for you, consider flying into Sacramento and renting a car for about a 3 hour drive.
