Our Wedding

Our Story

This beautiful state park in the Black Hills offers stunning landscapes such as the iconic Sylvan Lake and Black Elk Peak (highest point in US east of the Rockies). You can take a quick swim, hike one of the many forest trails, and drive down the famous Needles Highway.

Custer State Park

The entire town of Deadwood is a National Historic Landmark; a gold mining town stuck in time. Downtown Deadwood offers countless tours including the Adams or Days of '76 museum, ghost tours or gold mining tours. It also has an electric night life and is home to many casinos &amp; bars.

Spearfish Canyon holds a special place in both the bride and groom's hearts. Sierra went to undergad in Spearfish (located roughly 40 mins from Rapid City), so many of their dates were spent driving up the canyon or hiking some of the trails. You'll be guaranteed to see a few mountain goats in addition to the gorgeous landscape. Some of the best trails to take note of are:1. Devils Bathtub (less incline, but winds along a river and features a "bathtub" with a natural waterslide at the top)2. Spearfish Falls (short, easy hike that winds down to a gorgeous waterfall)3. The 76 trail (pretty steep, but not dangerous- a short hike that features a gorgeous panoramic view of the canyon)

Famous for its iconic sculpted faces of four U.S. presidents, Mount Rushmore is a must-see located just a short drive from Rapid City.

The Stables at Palmer Gulch offers horseback trail rides just outside of Rapid City in the Black Hills. A great activity to do with the family and try your hand at being a cowboy! They also have a chuckwagon dinner and show on select days.

Known for its dramatic landscapes of layered rock formations and deep canyons, Badlands National Park is perfect for hiking, photography, or simply taking in breathtaking views. Stop in on your way into Rapid City!

Take a tour of one of the many caves nestled in the Black Hills just outside of Rapid City. These include Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Rushmore Caves, and more!

Keystone is another historic town and although smaller than Deadwood, it still has a lot to offer. You can hit up the Rushmore Tramway Adventures to try your hand at a rope course, check out the local shops, tour the nearby gold mines, or visit the famous Cosmos Mystery Area.

Stroll the campus where Mitchell went to undergraduate school located in Rapid City. You can also take a hike up to the Big M where his name was engraved after graduation (separate location than the campus).

Things to Do

Sierra’s little sister is the maid of honor for the wedding! Six years her junior, Mataya and Sierra  enjoy riding horses together or playing volleyball when they are both home. Mitchell and Sierra also act as her volleyball analyzers now that she is playing in college.

Katie is Sierra's bestie and volleyball teammate from BHSU. They lived in an apartment together and spent their free time going on walks in the nearby park, watching reality tv shows, or freezing their butts off to save money on their apartment bills. 

Katie Marcotte 

Kaia is Mitchell's little sister and one of Sierra's bridesmaids!  They enjoy hanging out at their family lake cabin reading books, playing catan, corn hole, card games, and especially volleyball! 

Kaia Sueker

Hannah is Sierra's BFF from childhood! Sierra ate lunch at her house basically every day in HS and they bonded over science classes, watching Disney movies in the library (mostly Mulan), and ghost hunting.

Kindra is Sierra's friend and volleyball teammate from BHSU. The two were locker buddies and enjoyed pre-game dance parties. Being in STEM, they took many science courses together, but also took many fun classes like Racket Sports and Stress Relief together.

Kindra Cerrone

KeAnna is one of two of Sierra’s older sisters (fellow middle child). The two grew up teasing their younger sister, Mataya, for entertainment and were notorious for being goofy and making fun out of working on the ranch together.

KeAnna Hodson 

Fehrin is Sierra’s eldest sister. She is the one who keeps her sane and her biggest supporter and advisor. Sierra always looked up to Fehrin and followed in her footsteps to both play college volleyball at BHSU and get her Master's in Chemistry. 

Fehrin Brindley 

Garret is Mitchell's childhood best friend who he's known from birth. They've spent a lot of time together in their HS drum line, on various family road trips, and at their neighboring lake cabins playing games and building new things together.

Garret Hoff

Fil was Mitchell's roommate and basketball teammate at UND. They spent a lot of time together playing games and at the gym.

Filip Rebraca

Nate is Mitchell's friend and basketball teammate from UND. The two spent a lot of time together in college and stay in touch by playing videogames (now even with Sierra too). 

Nate Shockey

Blaise was Mitchell's next door neighbor growing up. The two spent their childhood playing sports, running around outside, or hanging out at each others houses.

Blaise Andries 

Reece is Mitchell's childhood friend who was also his next door neighbor. They spent most of their childhood playing sports and hanging out at each others house.

Reece Winkelman

Zach is Mitchell's friend and basketball teammate from South Dakota School of Mines. Much of their free time was spent playing board games, videogames, or exploring the Black Hills. The two now play golf together when they get the chance to meet up. 

Zach Hidalgo 

Grant is one of Mitchell's lifelong friends from Marshall. Their families have lake cabins bordering each other and they spend a lot of time in the summer playing board games and outdoor activities together. 

Grant Hoff 

Mitchell and Sierra met Alex through UND Volleyball (a manager on Sierra's team and played on the club team with Mitchell). They spend most of their free time playing sand volleyball, pickleball or videogames together now!

Alex Dimico

Jack played club volleyball with Mitchell, and since then has spent a lot of time with Mitchell and Sierra playing sand volleyball and racket sports in the summer or videogames.
