Our story starts on Facebook….. yes, Facebook does indeed have their own dating site conveniently situated within their already existing app. Kailee was single and as most well-marketed social media platforms do, Facebook gave her a preview and three easy steps to set up a dating profile. Kailee is all about efficiency and short set ups so she fully sent it. She came across a profile that intrigued her, the opening description written by a man who clearly loved the Lord and was not afraid to put it out there on a secular platform. She decided to swipe right… or left… or whatever the way is to say that she liked him. He did not impress her with any kind of limerick or memorable one-liner. Instead, just a simple greeting followed by short conversation about him heading to a Bible Study. Dialogue continued via text message for about a month before the two met in person, in Homer, on Memorial Day weekend. He took her out for a lovely date where they immediately hit it off in person. The date went late into the night as they chatted on the beach, sat by the fire, and were truly enjoying each other.
The two continued to see each other, as different and difficult as it was trying to date someone 4-5 hours away. During the summer Kailee was hiking as many mountains as she could, so once they started seeing each other, her mountain selection started becoming closer and closer to Anchorage. Simon also has put many miles on his truck to come to Homer for family gatherings, dinners, and Christmas parties!
