How it started...

On a crisp Halloween night in 2020, a house party was in full swing in Athens, GA. Mark McGoldrick (Matthew McConaughey/Best Man) happened upon a group of ladies in need of refreshments. He graciously offered to show the ladies around the house, quickly recruiting our Groom (Tarzan) to accompany him. The ladies were soon to be revealed as our Bride (70s Flower Child), flanked by Jenny Murtha (Cowgirl/Maid of Honor) and Grace Nash (Pirate/Bridesmaid).&nbsp; The fated group spent the rest of the night getting to know one another, and as the evening drew to a close, our Groom made perhaps his smoothest move yet: removing his heinous Party City wig. As if a veil had been lifted, our Bride realized the guy she had been chatting with was, in fact, easy on the eyes.&nbsp; Jarrod secured Simone’s number, and they scheduled their first date: dinner at Five Bar on November 3, 2020. The pair continued dating though the holidays, celebrating Jarrod’s birthday, buying their first Christmas tree, and making countless cinnamon rolls (Jarrod’s favorite).&nbsp; In the Spring, Simone rolled out her grand plan to make Jarrod fall in love with Atlanta. She carefully planned trips to Virginia Highland in hopes that he could be convinced to move there with her post-graduation. Little did she know, he didn’t need to fall in love with Atlanta. He was already in love with her.

Guests are welcome to drive or fly to Wilmington, NC. The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) offers direct flights from many major cities including Dallas, Atlanta, NYC, and Tampa. Please feel free to review the linked website to explore flight options. Our preferred hotel, Hotel Ballast, also offers an Airport Shuttle for guests!

While there will be plenty of parking available at Wrightsville Manor, guests are strongly encouraged to use the complimentary shuttles provided by the Bride and Groom. Ubers are difficult to come by, so we are providing this option for your convenience. This is a fantastic option for our guests staying in the downtown area, taking advantage of nightlife, or attending the After Party. The shuttle will provide round trip transportation from Hotel Ballast (downtown) to Wrightsville Manor. The shuttles will depart sharply at 2:15pm and 2:30pm from Hotel Ballast, and will provide return trips at 8:00pm, 9:00pm, and after the grand exit at 9:45pm.

Lodging

We strongly encourage staying in our preferred hotel, Hotel Ballast. It is located in the middle of the downtown strip on the riverfront, making it the most conveniently located to all that Wilmington's downtown has to offer. This hotel also provides an airport shuttle for our guests flying in. Please use the below direct booking link, or Group Code SPW. NOTE: The complimentary shuttle to the Wedding Venue will be picking up and dropping off from this hotel.

Hotel Ballast

Another great hotel downtown is the Riverfront Embassy Suites. This hotel is located directly on the riverfront, less than a 5-minute walk to popular bars and restaurants, and a 20-minute drive to the beach. The Embassy's pricing is moderate to high, so we recommend booking in advance. This hotel boasts excellent amenities including the best rooftop view in Wilmington. This hotel is a 6-minute walk down the river boardwalk to the shuttle pick-up point.

Embassy Suites

If you're looking for accommodations as close to the venue as possible, the Hampton Inn is a great budget-friendly option. This hotel is a 3-minute drive to Wrightsville Manor, and a 5-minute drive to Wrightsville Beach.

Hampton Inn

The newly renovated Lumina Holiday Inn is the best hotel on Wrightsville Beach. For those of you interested in a beach vacation, this is the place for you! Rooms can get pricey, so we recommend booking early. This hotel is a 7-minute drive to Wrightsville Manor. Please arrange your own responsible transportation ahead of time.

Airbnbs &amp; VRBOs are great options for those traveling in groups! For Beach-Seekers: checkout Airbnbs on Wrightsville Beach. There are some fantastic options for beach houses and condos. Just make sure to schedule your transportation in advance! For Walkability: checkout downtown's riverfront condos and historic houses. This is a great option for guests that want to take advantage of our shuttle, and that plan to join the Bride and Groom at the After Party downtown.
