Our Wedding

Blake and Siobhan met in choir at Grandview High School. Since Blake was a year younger than Siobhan, they didn't really notice Blake's burning and unspoken crush on them. Blake fell hard and fast, as he did for every love he had in his adolescence. Siobhan had no idea he'd fallen for them. They just thought he was a cutie (because he's small and handsome) who had a very admirable talent for singing, beatboxing, and most notably the guitar. The first moment they both really remember sharing was the day Blake sat in the performing arts hallway practicing the guitar solo from Santeria by Sublime; Siobhan walked up and said to him in passing,&nbsp;"That's so sexy." Siobhan did not use that word very often at this point in their life, and they honestly don't remember what exactly emboldened them to use it then, though they now feel it was because they had never felt the statement to be quite as true before then."What?" Blake stopped strumming to see if his ears actually heard what he hoped."I said that's so sexy... when you play like that, I mean." Siobhan felt more sure the second time they said it. They knew it was true, but they also liked the power that the phrase held, if they were honest with themself."Oh, thanks!" Blake giggled and blushed, which was exactly the desired effect of the comment. Siobhan hadn't known that Blake already held such a flame for them, which was good because they may not have made the comment for fear of leading the little man on. However, as their friendship continued, Siobhan probably should have realized the depth of his feelings. Blake asked Siobhan to Mo-Prom, they went to see “A Quiet Place” together in the theater, and Blake even let Siobhan play with his hair one day at a cast party (a thing choir friends do —not as obvious as it seems now), but they now know this is one of Blake's deepest signs of trust. It wasn't until Blake gave Siobhan a poem to put in their yearbook, asking them not to read it until they got home, that Siobhan got the hint. The poem may not have been Yeats, but it was the most pure piece of romantic love Siobhan had ever received, and it almost made them sad Blake hadn't been more upfront before they graduated. But Siobhan's sadness could not compare to Blake's. This is what set his feelings for Siobhan apart from all his strong crushes. On the night of Siobhan's last day of senior year, Blake called his grandma and grandpa Erickson at midnight in tears. He was worried he would never see Siobhan again, that he had lost his chance. He'd thought his parents might think he was being silly, so he called his grandparents. They'd told him that if he truly loved this person, he'd let them go. Though it felt unhelpful at the time, it turned out to be sound advice. The universe had a funny way of bringing Siobhan and Blake back together after they'd both done some learning and living. Their paths collided again when Mama Lara told Siobhan that Blake really needed to get out of the house. Siobhan happily started bringing Blake along to sing in The Timberliners, a mixed voice barbershop chorus that rehearsed in&nbsp;Broomfield. The hour drive to and from chorus is truly one of the most effective and sacred spaces in which to get to know someone, and its magic worked well for Blake and Siobhan. One very late night parked in a parking lot, listening to a musical, Siobhan finally tired of waiting around 5 am, and told Blake to kiss them. It was fluttery and lovely like any good first kiss, but beneath that was calm and peace; there was a stability in this connection that was new to both of them, like seeing your car again after a long hike, or the feeling you get when you sing a fifth perfectly in tune. This kind of hum of the universe sustained them through a year living with Siobhan's very loving parents. It brought them together with the best roommate and friend they could ever have dreamed, who taught them how to be fireproof, how to be an adult in your space while honoring your neurodiversity, and how to fall in love in spite of any distance or old wounds. It brought them the perfect fur baby, Mouse. This hum felt sure enough that Blake and Siobhan made a deal that whichever person first had the funds would get the ring and propose. Siobhan won that race, and they set up a paint and sip date. The series of unfortunate events surrounding the proposal felt like the universe's way of making sure everyone was certain. More details can be read in the photo timeline, but it's safe to say everyone was very sure of their decisions. Every move, every conflict navigated, and every moment shared since then has made them both more sure. Siobhan still asks Blake every once in a while just in case, but they both know that they don’t ever imagine life without the other in it.

Our entire wedding party is filled with big nerds like us, which is why we also have multiple years of collective Renfaire photos. Most of us met in high school choir or on childhood swim teams. Now our favorite group activity to try to coordinate is Dungeons and Dragons; we're going for blackout in nerd bingo.

Travel Instructions

The Directions on the various mapping apps are not well informed on the drivable layout of Gering, so please follow our included instructions and pictures in order to arrive at the venue. ALTERNATIVELY, you can map to Gering High School, and then map to 1720 Beverly Blvd from there. All parking is residential, so please be conscious of not blocking any driveways or parking too close to any fire hydrants
 
EDIT: I have attempted to edit roads in google maps in order to correct the roads which roads don't exist. I believe my efforts have helped the google maps navigation. Google still wants to take you on a crossroad which does not exist between Five Rocks Road and 21st St. I have inputted that nonexistent road as closed, and it now seems google does reccomend the correct route for the time being, though one alternate route suggested near the house is still the nonexistent route. Just be careful and please follow this suggested route if it's not what appears on your mapping service.
