OUR STORY

Way back in 2009 Colin and Siobhan met at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. They became friends and stayed in touch over the years which included many trips to Virginia and Ohio for party purposes!

Siobhan visited DC in January of 2020. Colin saw that Siobhan was in town and reached out to meet up.&nbsp;They met at The Fish Market and had a great night! They had a nice time catching up and when Siobhan went back to Ohio she didn't think much more of the trip except that it was nice to see an old friend. (Colin may have had different ideas lol)

Siobhan's sister Ciara had brain surgery on March 11th 2020. She made a full recovery and is now a nurse on the same neuro ICU floor! Colin saw this picture on Instagram and reached out to Siobhan to make sure Ciara was ok. He was very supportive for Siobhan and has become good friends with Ciara :)

The next week the world shut down. Colin and Siobhan continued texting which turned into phone calls, which turned into facetime calls and zoom calls and most of these lasted until 4 in the morning. All they wanted to do was talk and talk and talk. Finally Siobhan ran out of toilet paper and Colin, a responsible, single, adult who shopped at Costco, had stockpiles of toilet paper! He finally convinced her to drive to Virginia even though she was worried because of the mandated lockdowns. This first trip is a favorite memory for both of them. When Siobhan arrived there were definitely a few moments of awkwardness since this was the first time they were seeing each other in person as something more than friends. But thankfully, Colin with his big and happy personality quickly got things on the right track! The rest of the night was spent with Colin sitting on the counter, Siobhan sitting on the sofa, no phones, no music, no tv, just talking, until of course...4am. It was like the world stood still and there was nothing that existed outside of this moment. Both of them knew that very first night they had finally met the one. They did not divulge this information to each other for a little while but they both knew.

Come to dine or visit the Museum consists of the c. 1785 tavern and the 1792 City Tavern and Hotel. Both were constructed by John Wise but made famous by tavern-keeper John Gadsby. His establishment was the center of political, business, and social life in Alexandria and in the new federal city of Washington, D.C. The City Tavern’s Ballroom was the location of George Washington’s Birthnight Ball in 1798 and 1799, as well as Thomas Jefferson’s Inaugural Banquet in 1801. We designed our wedding to be completely walkable! Parking in Old Town can be pricey and scarce so we recommend ubering or taking the metro from the airport to Old Town. There is also a free trolley that goes up and down King Street if your feet need a break!

Can we bring kids?This is an adults only wedding! We respectfully ask that you do not bring children. What is the hotel situation?We have complementary holds at a few different hotels. You are welcome to stay at any of these hotels or wherever else you would like. We recommend staying in Alexandria so you are close to the church and venue but also so you can explore Old Town! If you call a hotel and the rooms are filled, please let us know so we can call and request additional space. Which airport should we fly into?Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport to Old Town. It is 3 metro stops or a 15 min drive to the top of King St. which is the beginning of Old Town. Dulles International Airport (IAD) is another option to look for flights and it is about a 45 min drive to Old Town.
