Sky and Ashley met pretty unexpectedly summer of 2019. Sky had just moved to Idaho from Oahu, Hawaii a year prior to meeting Ashley. Prior to moving he had a dream of a life in Hawaii. All of his best friends lived fairly close distances away, they hiked, surfed, ate lots of food together, grew up together. Sky never envisioned himself moving away from Hawaii as he thought It was the best the Lord had for him at the time. He didn't see what could be better. Prior to moving his family had realized that their time in Hawaii was coming to an end. They had began praying towards what it would look like to move to the mainland and where. As the Lord began stirring up in their hearts a love for Northern Idaho. Sky was still pretty set on maintaining his life on island. As time got closer to his family's separation from island, his heart began to move for a love of the mainland. He prayed in regards to what his future would hold if he were to move to mainland. He always saw himself in the Sherriff's department doing what he loves, serving and protecting. He couldn't see himself doing this in Hawaii. So he felt like his time there was quickly coming to an end as well. As the family made their leave it was some of the hardest times to leave Ohana and move their lives to Northern Idaho. Moving October of 2019 to Coeur D Alene, Idaho. Sky experienced one of the most lonely seasons not knowing anyone or the place. Until summer of 2019, attending a community group meeting mutual friends of Ashley Crone.
Ashley had been living in Coeur D Alene, Idaho since 2014. Moving here from western Washington. Ashley had fallen in love with Coeur D Alene but mostly the community it offered. In 2018 Ashley had felt a pull to move to Moscow Idaho to pursue her love for medical as well as justice for women who have been sexually abused or currently were in situations regarding that. She lived down in moscow until April 2019. Having just come out of an intense season was not looking for anything new. But had decided her time in Coeur D Alene was coming to an end and had made the decision that she would move over seas for a season to London, England. June 2019 Ashley was invited to house sit with some friends for a week at this sweet hawaiian families home while they were gone. Not having met these people yet Ashley stayed. Spent her Birthday there, saw pictures of the family on the wall. “It felt like a peaceful haven” was the way she described the first time stepping into her future inlaws home for the first time. After that week Ashley didn't meet the family or Sky until August of 2019. When she was invited over for a dinner through mutual friends. Friends had described this family as some of the best people they've met, sincere and loving family who are sold out for the Lord. Ashley still going through hardships decided to attend this dinner needing to surround herself around decent solid community. Arriving, the family asked about her and what her plans were for that upcoming year. She explained her future pursuit of England and her plans to move that April of 2020. Ashley had felt a peaceful connection to the family that night but didn't see them again until August 31st at a music festival. Ashley had been sitting with some friends listening to the music zoning out. Sky recognizing her got in her view trying to grab her attention just to simply say “Hey! How are you?” Nothing else was exchanged until the end of the night when The Murphys had invited her on the boat the next day. She decided to say yes to a nice boat day. Heading to the boat It was Sky's birthday, September 1st. They boated together with a bunch of their friends. Sky’s feelings towards Ashley deepened that day. She thought he was definitely cute. She wanted to get to know him a little bit more.
Sky continued to invite her to more boating days, roller skating, silverwood theme park trips to get to know her more. Soon after Ashley left for Guam September of 2019 for 3 weeks to visit her brother with her family. During this time apart she knew she was beginning to have deeper feelings for Sky. She had prayed that when she left if God did not want them to kindle a relationship that He would grow them apart as she was away. While she was in Guam, the talking did not stop. In fact, it increased. Ashley still not sure if he liked her while she was still away in Guam. Met up with Sky’s mom to see if he indeed had feelings for her. She decided to not tell Ashley anything where his feelings were and keep it open for him to respond. Later that day, Laura told Sky the conversation that her and Ashley had regarding his feelings. Sky then decided to pray intentionally towards what the possibilities were if him and Ashley were to be together. He asked the Lord for insight on if they were meant for each other and if it was pleasing for him to take the friendship to the next level.

As sky prayed, he felt immense peace on pursuing a relationship with Ashley. He then later that week nervously asked Ashley if she would like to come over and watch a few episodes of the classic twilight zone together. Towards the end of the night as Sky walked Ashley out to her car, he said that he really enjoyed his time getting to know her and stated his feelings of intention towards her. He asked her if she would be interested in courting/dating in the near future. He said “you can take a few days/weeks/months to pray and think about it” then he nervously and patted her on the back and said “goodnight” instantly regretting his awkward goodbye. Ashley stubbornly wanted to take a few months to see how long he was willing to wait, but as a week passed Ashley felt immense peace and excitement in responding to Sky telling him She would love to pursue a relationship with him!
