Clinton Lake is a wonderful lake and campground just west of Lawrence. You can boat, fish, hike, play sports, and camp out around the state park. They have campsites, shelters, cabins, and water amenities for rent.
Mass Street is the downtown strip in Lawrence known for its many shops, restaurants, and charm. Grab a burger and fries at the Burger Stand or Jeffersons off of 8th Street. Pick up a nice book to read at the Raven, or a record to listen to at Love Garden Sounds. Grab a delicious cup of coffee or a cocktail at the Bourgeois Pig on 9th. And don't forget Silas and Maddy's for some yummy ice cream for dessert!
This museum is located just north of the University of Kansas campus. They are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12PM-5PM. (TBD whether they will be open Memorial Day weekend).

Prairie Park is a preserve featuring a five-acre lake, as well as wetland, woodland, and prairie environments. You can walk the trails to see a wide variety of native Kansas wildlife on the property including deer, coyotes, bobcats, and birds of prey.
The University of Kansas is located on the highest point in Lawrence. The hilly campus is beautiful in the spring, and exploring it fully makes for a nice long walk. Buildings such as the Memorial Union and the museums mentioned above should be open for you to see even though school will not be in session.
KC Wine Co. is a charming winery outside of Olathe, KS, less than a half hour away from Lawrence. They of course serve wines, but they also serve beers, hard ciders, and wine slushies. Food trucks often park there on the weekends so you can have a bite to eat there as well. The winery hosts live music, yard games and other live events on the weekends. They are open from 4PM-9PM Friday-Sunday.
