Ben had grown up in the saddle, born into a family where the smell of hay and the sound of animals were second nature. But before Skylar ever stepped into the horse arena herself, it was her older sister, Savannah, who wore the boots and held the reins. Savannah's pony, Indy, was always in the same class as Ben's horse, Sassy. Together with their friend Jessie Hunter, they created what they proudly called "The Pony Club". While Ben and Skylar never competed in the same classes, Savannah introduced the two-and from that moment, they became fast friends.&nbsp; Over the next few county fairs, they spent every spare moment together, dreading the last day, knowing they wouldn’t see each other again for a whole year. Eventually, the routine friendship turned into something more: walking the fairgrounds hand-in-hand, cheering each other on in the stands, and sharing greasy food (and of course some not so discrete flirting).&nbsp; Ben finally asked Skylar to be his girlfriend on July 17th, 2016. Their families weren’t exactly surprised-especially considering that year, Skylar never cleaned her horse stall once. High school brought new challenges: Skylar at Madison-Plains, Ben at Southeastern. But even as life got busier, they continued to cheer each other on through Skylar’s nights of cheerleading and Ben’s sweaty track meets. From homecoming to proms, they did it all-together. In fact, Ben once ran six miles just to surprise Skylar at school. Then came college. Skylar followed her dreams to Florida, a thousand miles away from the small town roots they shared. Long distance was hard, just like everyone said it would be. But somehow—through Zoom movie nights, surprise weekend visits, heartfelt texts, and so many tearful airport goodbyes their love never wavered. When Skylar graduated from college, Ben used this moment to not only celebrate her but to mark the next chapter in their lives. So, surrounded by the magic of childhood dreams and the sparkle of Cinderella’s Castle. Ben got down on one knee in Walt Disney World on May 17th 2022. Skylar was so surprised she literally walked away—but quickly turned around and said yes.&nbsp; In March of 2024 they purchased their first home-&nbsp;a true labor of love. With the help of family and friends (and more than a few trips to Ben’s favorite store, Home Depot), they’ve been slowly renovating it, turning every wall and corner into the foundation of the life they’re building together. They love to spend their time together with friends and family, raising their three dogs; Lucy, Callie, and Dusty along with their geckos, tortoises, and cat (with hopefully more furry friends on the way). They love dominating each other on XBOX, quoting movies, listening to music, and making fun of each other. As it turns out, the dusty barn aisles and fairground arena of their hometown held more than just ribbons and riding —they held love.Thank you for being part of the journey.
