The Spinners are hosting the hospitality suite at the Grand Galvez (formerly and better known as the Hotel Galvez).
The suite will eagerly be accepting visitors after 8pm on Friday, until 3pm on Saturday, and even after the wedding on Sunday!
The suite is located in the Balinese room on the 8th floor. Use the right elevator (the left won't get you there).

Our story begins one afternoon in June 2024 when we met on the dating app Hinge. On the day of our ‘match’ we spent the entire rest of the day messaging each other back and forth bonding over our many shared favorite hobbies, interests, and intellectual pursuits. Soon after we went on our first date, lunch at Koffeteria (we shared a cookie, a scone, and a beef pho kolache) and an Astros game, where we were delighted to confirm we were just as wonderful of a match (or as Shaun’s boobie would put it, a zivug) in person as we had been ‘online.’
We've been together ever since! We currently live in Deer Park, Texas with our three lovely dogs and in our free time enjoy going on dates to the symphony and trying new tasty treats (Skylar making, Shaun eating). From the moment that we met we bonded over our shared passion for learning about and memorializing our respective family histories. Some of our favorite memories with each other involve digging through our archives & photo albums to learn and reminisce about our loved ones.
The two of us could not be more excited about this newest chapter and to embark, officially, on our life spent together. And we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you who can join us in Galveston and to make many more wonderful memories for our families to cherish for generations to come.
No bridesmaids nor groomsmen, no maid of honor or best man, just a legion of flower girls and a darling ring bearer.
Ultimately, we want you to be comfortable. Give "dressy casual" a quick internet search and you're good to go.
Congregation Beth Jacob is a Conservative synagogue, which means the bimah (pulpit) is in the front of the room, much like a typical Christian church. There will be pews and chairs as seating. The bride and groom will come down the aisles (there are two!) at the beginning of the wedding, and will recess at the end.
We are providing kippot/yarmulkes for you. It is yours to keep, and made by the bride! Jewish or not, man or not, you are welcome to wear it ... or not! But please take one!!
This will be a Jewish ceremony, with lots of Hebrew, but you will be provided with a program that has translations and transliterations so you can follow along. The rabbi will explain what's happening as well.
Houston has two airports: Hobby (HOU) and Bush Intercontinental (IAH).
From either airport, to get to Galveston Island you will take I-45 South until it terminates and becomes Broadway (Avenue J).
The synagogue is on Avenue K, between 24th and 25th Streets. If you follow Google or Apple Maps you should get there just fine. Park on the street and do not block any driveways!
Hotel Lucine (closer to the beach) - a nice fit for the couple with no kids. The rooms are small.
We have a room block at The Grand Galvez (formerly known as Hotel Galvez). Please use this link to book in our block and receive a discount! If you'd prefer to book by phone, call 1-409-765-7721 and choose option (0).
Feel free to book whatever is comfortable for yourselves and your budgets! Take a look at your preferred online map and scope out the area around the venue for other lodging options. There are also Airbnbs around if that's more your speed.
Just a mile from the wedding venue is The Strand, Galveston's shopping district. You can find boutiques, confectionaries, and kitschy souvenir shops. Shaun and Skylar recommend a nostalgic visit to La King's Confectionary for ice cream and fudge.
Three streets closer to the wedding venue is Postoffice Street. Here you'll find art galleries, coffee shops, boutiques, and antiques.
Incredibly, the Pleasure Pier at Seawall and 25th Street hasn't been wiped out by a hurricane. The Pleasure Pier is an "old-fashioned waterfront amusement area with rides for all ages, games of skill, and boardwalk eats."
Magic Carpet Golf is right on the Seawall if you're in the mood for some mini-golf.
Galveston's historic 1894 Opera House has Cirque Kalabante on offer January 16th at 8pm.
