If you’re looking for a one stop with plenty of food options (plus Milwaukee souvenirs and T-shirts), head to the Public Market, where a number of local vendors sell their wares and good eats at the border of the Third Ward and Downtown.

Milwaukee Art Museum

700 N. Art Museum Dr.

This winged wonder is arguably the coolest building in the city. Built in 1997 and designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the lakeside museum is itself a work of art, and inside you can easily spend an afternoon wandering the galleries.

Explore The Deer District

The Deer District highlights our championship-winning Bucks! Even if you don’t want to stop for a game, you should still check out the neighborhood surrounding Fiserv Forum. It’s packed with places to eat and drink. There’s public art and murals all over, and the Forum itself is quite the sight.

Mitchell Park Domes

Another one of the city’s architectural high points, the Mitchell Park Domes are three conoidal glass domes protecting gardens. Each dome showcases a specific climate/ecosystem, maintaining the climate of the plants it houses.

Local Breweries

Fancy yourself an ice cold pint? Milwaukee is home to tons of excellent breweries, and at one point was even considered the beer capital of the world. We’ve listed a few of our favorite breweries below!

Lakefront Brewery - Located right off the Milwaukee River, the large, German style beer hall puts you in a beery state of mind and the communal seating is perfect for lunch and dinner for families and groups of all sizes. The brewery is known for its innovative ales and lagers, as well as its infamous brewery tour. Fun fact: Lakefront Brewery is located two blocks from our apartment!

Eagle Park Brewing - Located on the opposite side of the Milwaukee River is Eagle Park Brewing, a small brewery known for their Instagram-worthy milkshake IPAs and fruited sours, as well as a variety of light lagers, maltier beers, and West Coast IPAs. The ambiance reminds us a lot of our wedding venue, with a large skylight and twinkly string lights bringing warmth to the space.

Central Waters Brewing - Known for its barrel-aged beers, Central Waters also has a strong core lineup with a blonde ale, red ale, porter, and more. Make sure to come hungry when stopping in - Central Waters partners with Trouble Makers Cocina, a food vendor that puts a delicious new spin on Mexican cuisine, while enhancing the relationship between beer and food.

MobCraft Beer - MobCraft started in 2011 running a fascinating crowdsourced recipe program, essentially letting customers decide what the brewery would brew next. Anyone could submit an idea and place a vote; MobCraft brewed the winning beer, packaged it, and made it available at the brewery. Now MobCraft complements its crowdsourced beer with flagships and seasonals, but the core of the brewery remains. Stop in, order a pizza and a pint, and enjoy some of the most democratic beer around.

Milwaukee has lots of beautiful trails to explore - here are some of our favorites!

Seven Bridges Trail at Grant Park - Actually, there are 10 bridges here, and many of them are nearly 100 years old. Beyond the park’s namesake spans, the path offers craggy cliffside views, dense forests and a stop at the sandy shore of Lake Michigan.

Oak Leaf Trail - The Oak Leaf Trail is a multi-use trail system with over 135 miles of trail for cycling, roller blading, walking, birding and running around Milwaukee County. Nearly a quarter of the trail hugs the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. The trail system is mostly smooth asphalt, with dozens of easily accessed connections that take you just about anywhere in the Milwaukee metro area.

Milwaukee RiverWalk - Connecting downtown neighborhoods, the three-mile long RiverWalk winds along the Milwaukee River with public art and access to some of the city's best views.
