The story of the future Mr. and Mrs. Richter began in a small Catholic high school in Colorado Springs. Tyler and Solange started talking here and there junior year, but only began seriously caring for one another senior year. As time progressed, the two were inseparable - they would always be together.

On April 9, 2017, Tyler asked Solange to be his girlfriend and as the story goes - Solange said, “Sure.” Thee rest was history.

Just kidding! Soon after, Tyler and Solange went to prom and committed to attending college in the Fall together at UCCS.

They spent everyday of that summer together and always found time for one another in-between classes in the Fall. College wasn’t for Tyler, so he made the big decision to join the United States Marine Corps.

Tyler and Solange crammed so many memories into those last months, but eventually his day of enlistment arrived. Tyler enlisted into the Marine Corps on January 21, 2018, and shipped off to boot camp the next day.

For 13 weeks, Tyler and Solange communicated in the only method available to them, letters. Solange wrote Tyler everyday, sometimes twice a day, for 13 weeks. Tyler says those letters were one of the things that kept him going while away. Every day, Solange would await the arrival of the mailman in hopes of one of Tyler’s letters. Finally the wait was over on April 20, 2018 when Tyler graduated boot camp as a United States Marine. The two were crazy happy to see one another!

The next four years were filled with trips to see one another, but they never exceeded 14 days. While long distance was a difficult experience, it taught Tyler and Solange how to better communicate, appreciate one another, and that love is worth fighting for. Distance means so little when someone means so much. This was definitely proven throughout their four years of long distance and through Tyler’s deployment.

On the day Tyler came home from deployment, it had been 219 days since they saw each other. Solange surprised Tyler by welcoming him home to the US.

Soon after, Solange and Tyler decided they wanted to live together once Tyler was honorably discharged from the military. They decided to begin their next adventure in Arizona. On November 24th, Tyler was discharged, they moved to Arizona into their first apartment ever, and…

Tyler got down on one knee and asked Solange if she would begin this next journey with him as his future wife. This time Solange said, “Yes!”
