How it all began

Song and Joe met in August 2023 at Joey B’s — the most fitting place for a guy named Joe to meet the love of his life. Their first impressions were… accurate. Joe thought Song was quiet. Song thought Joe talked a lot. Both were right, and somehow that combination worked perfectly.

The early days

Their dates were always memorable, sometimes intentionally and sometimes not, because Song usually got lost on the way. Joe quickly decided it was safer if he just picked her up from then on.

The adventures

Together, they traveled — literally and culturally. Song supported Joe on his first successful flight to Asia, after two previous experiences ended in chaos. When Joe met Song’s parents, he discovered Chinese drinking culture and baijiu… and then promptly lost count of how many shots he accepted.

Joe learned that Song might be quiet at first, but not always — especially when she took the stage at her first concert at Webster University. Then he realized she could actually be much louder than him.

Song also learned a few things, especially where Joe got his volume, during her first trip to Destin to meet his family. Joe was very impressed and relieved that she "survived" the experience :).

The proposal

On their second anniversary, they climbed to a higher viewpoint at Elephant Rock. Then Joe handed Song a letter he had spent four hours writing the day before with eight Chinese characters that read:

你愿意嫁给我吗 — Will you marry me?
