Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who discovered a new territory, a church she had never been before. It was a new but beautiful experience that would change her life’s trajectory, little did she know.
It was March 2011 when I (Sonya) went to the seventh day Adventist church at shortwood by way of invitation by my then mathematics teacher, Mrs. McIntosh. It was a new but wonderful experience. I remember seeing Oshane that day and noting that he was the tallest from the group of young men he song with. He had a big smile and a confidence that wins your attention. I cannot remember when we first exchanged words but I know it was soon after because he was a charmer, a sweet mouth some would say.
He soon gave me the nickname Sonshine, because he always complimented my smile. I wasn’t really paying him any attention but little did I know he was… hahaha.
We were friends but a connection between us started to grow back in 2016-2017 when we worked together in AYD. We connected on our passion to help others as we lead the community outreach arm of the AYD. In 2017, the friendship brewed, even more as we worked in New Kingston together and would often have lunch link ups. I enjoyed our lunch breaks, and I know he did too. We would talk, just about anything as we got to know more about each other.
