Sophia and Tristan's relationship is the true meaning of "right person, wrong time." After trying to make things work back in high school, the two parted ways before heading into their senior years. Not knowing if they would ever reconnect, the two went to separate colleges; Sophia to Drake University, and Tristan to UNI. After not hearing from one another for over a year, COVID 19 and we'll be honest, a little bit of fate, brought the two back together. Not knowing what would happen amid all uncertainties of 2020, they decided to try one more time to make things work. Low and behold, something stuck that time around, and the two were nearly inseparable. After transferring to ISU to pursue engineering, Sophia and Tristan spent countless weekends traveling back and forth between Ames and Des Moines to see each other. They played a large part in each others education; supporting the other through Sophia's decision to graduate a year early, and Tristan's change of major. In May 2022, Sophia graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurial Management and in May 2023, Tristan graduated from Iowa State with two Bachelor's Degrees in Marketing and Management. Over the course of their relationship they took plenty of vacations together; traveling to Florida more than once, Nashville, Colorado, and many, many trips to Michigan where Sophia's family owned a lakeside cabin. Knowing that this was her favorite place in the world, Tristan took Sophia up alligator eye in April 2021 and carved their names in a tree overlooking the lake. In 2023, on their annual family vacation, Tristan took Sophia back up to alligator eye following a kayak trip up a nearby river. They went up to the spot looking to see if the tree that they carved their names in was still there, and when Sophia went to go admire the view, Tristan was behind her, waiting to propose. They got engaged at the top of the mountain, one of her families favorite places, just the two of them. The rest to this point, is history.
