Will and Sophia first met in the fall semester of 2022. While Sophia fails to remember this start of the story entirely, the 2 were first introduced when Ben Schanz asked Will to go to church with him and Sophia happened to be the driver. After church, the group went to lunch and everyone then proceeded to go their separate ways. Sophia claims “short term memory loss” and has no recollection of this day. Instead she holds to the opinion that they randomly met in passing on campus not long after.

Even after little interactions and minimal knowledge about Sophia in general, Will decided that if he was interested, which he very much was, that his best course of action was to DM Sophia on Instagram. Why Will decided to go the non-verbal social media route baffles most if not all individuals, but while he does regret the way he went about pursuing Sophia, he in no way regrets pursuing her in the slightest. While their interactions might have been few, Will could very clearly see the work of the Holy Spirt in Sophia just by watching her interact and care for those around her even on the most basic of levels. Long story short, Sophia promptly said no which no one can fault her for and while Will still held onto hope, in the back of his mind he knew it was probably a lost cause.

Fast forward to the Spring semester of 2024. Will looks the same and probably weighs the same but has now procured a well thought out Facebook Marketplace purchase. His 2018 Wolf RX50 moped is now his ticket to paradise. Did he think it would get him a girl when he bought it in a dark parking lot at 1am? Not really, but evidently the Lord had a few aces up His sleeve. Shortly after the purchase, Will and Sophia find themselves in the library together where the moped serves as an excellent conversation starter. One thing leads to another, and then that same night Sophia finds herself on the back of Will’s moped with their friends trailing behind.

It was ultimately this night that jumpstarted Will’s desire to then ask Sophia out again only this time not via social media. As one might come to assume, she did in fact end up agreeing, went on a few dates, started officially dating April 4, 2024. The rest is history…

Will and Sophia are excited to enter into marriage and experience all that the Lord has for them. While there are many unknowns, they greatly trust and rely on the One who is faithful and Lord of all. A verse that has shaped their relationship is Psalm 16:11, “In His presence there is fullness of joy.” Together in marriage they desire to walk closely to the Lord together and experience the ultimate joy that Christ has provided for them.
