It was the Summer of 2018…

Sophie was at her friend's house baking a cake and needed to borrow cocoa powder. Her friends suggested they walk over to Isaiah’s house to see if he had the cocoa powder. As they walked to his house, Sophie kept asking, “Who is Isaiah?” "Where are we going?” They arrived at a house and the front door opened and Sophie locked eyes with Isaiah. Her first thought was, “Wow, he is really cute!” As the door closed, Sophie turned to her friends and asked questions like “Who is he again?” “Is he a Christian?” They replied, “He goes to our school and yes he is!” Oh, and if you were wondering, Isaiah did not have the baking ingredient.

A couple of weeks after the cute boy opened the door, Sophie ended up seeing him again at a neighborhood block party. She was getting her hair done beforehand and chatted with her hairdresser about if she should go or not. The hairdresser said “Girl, you're getting your hair done, you gotta go!” So she took her advice and went! At the party they barely talked but Isaiah did give Sophie a high five when she won ‘Capture the Flag.' At the end of the night, Isaiah finally acknowledged her after overhearing her talk about an iPhone game that he played too. Who knew an iPhone game would start their texting relationship. Isaiah and Sophie started messaging back and forth on Instagram that night and a friendship started. A friendship that consisted of Isaiah asking her a BUNCH of questions! He was a curious fella.

After almost a year of chatting, Facetiming, and waving at each other as they walked down the halls of school, Isaiah finally asked Sophie out to dinner! The date started off at Target… how fancy. It only gets fancier - they ate at Black Bear Diner. Don’t worry, Isaiah quickly discovered Sophie’s idea of fancy. They sat down to eat and talked for hours. Sophie didn’t realize her mom had sent her a ton of texts saying “What’s happening?” “You’ve been there a long time!” I guess they had a lot to talk about! Isaiah learned that day that Sophie is "a very kind, passionate, and sweet girl." Sophie learned that day that Isaiah is "a very witty, respectful and loving guy." And, that breakfast means a lot to him.

A few more dates occurred and then the big question arose if they would become an official couple. Sophie wasn’t looking for a relationship but was really enjoying her time with Isaiah. Isaiah on the other hand was just waiting for Sophie to say yes and become his girlfriend. He was very patient. After praying about it, on November 26, 2019, Isaiah and Sophie made it official. Their strong friendship led to a really beautiful relationship. More phone calls, dates…long drives while listening to Johnnyswim, and a pandemic. Wait what? Yep, the 2020 pandemic turned their relationship into a long-distance one even though they lived across the road from each other! Six feet apart visits became a normal routine. Then the big college goodbye came.

Isaiah and Sophie went to two different colleges - UC Santa Barbara and California Baptist University. They made the effort to meet in the middle at least once a month. Santa Monica, Malibu, and Los Angeles were all visited multiple times. Their relationship grew stronger and they celebrated one another as they walked the stage.

On May 26th, 2025 Isaiah took Sophie on a special date. He drove her to one of her favorite places.. Napa. They ate a lovely meal at Lucy in Yountville then took a walk into the vineyard nearby. Before Sophie knew it, Isaiah was down on one knee saying the words, “I love you. I want to love you forever. Will you marry me?” It was the easiest YES for Sophie.

This is just the beginning…

Isaiah and Sophie can’t wait to tie the knot on May 22nd, 2026.
