Q + A

What and where is the venue?

We are getting married at “Rancho Farmlands” which is part of our friends Adam and Kaye’s beautiful Broadfork Farm. My brother August and his family live at Rancho Farmlands, and our wedding ceremony will be in his back yard. The rest of the wedding (eating, dancing, celebrating…) will happen in and around the nearby barns with a view of Mt. Adam’s to the north, Mt. Hood to the south, and the sound of rushing whitewater to the east.

Named after the adjacent Farmlands stretch of whitewater, the address for “Rancho Farmlands" is 721 Sunnyside Rd Trout Lake, WA 98650. When you arrive, signage will direct you to parking. Be prepared to park on a farm field and footwear should be comfortable to walk around the site.

Photo 1 and 2 below are where the ceremony will be. Photo 3 is the barn where we will have dinner and dancing.

What will the weather be like?

Trout Lake, WA in May is a bit of a gamble! From our wedding invitation, you may have come to understand that it's the land of rainbows, which means there is a lot of rain. Come prepared. Bring clothes for it being 85 and pouring rain/cold. Wear comfortable shoes for walking around a farm.

Tell me more about parking and transportation?

You will need a car. Trout Lake is rural and everything is far apart. We are still figuring out the parking situation but most likely everyone will be encouraged to car pool the day of and will park near the site at our neighbor's property. More to come.

Where do we stay? Can we camp?

There are a number of charming rentals found on AirBnB in the valley. As well as two hotels and several lovely campsites. Check the travel page for ideas and reach out to Sophia if you have questions.

There is a limited amount of onsite camping Friday and Saturday night, which is reserved for a handful of guests.

Please let us (Sophia/Sam) know where you are staying and we will keep track of where everyone is landing.

Are kids invited?

Yes, kids are welcome. We kindly ask that kids be supervised at all times. There is a pond, road, ditches, and river near the property and we want everyone to be safe. We will have a separate kid’s dinner with some Mac & Cheese and finger foods. We ask that after dinner and speeches and before dancing and cake that kids make their way home to their beds. The adult party will go much later but we'd appreciate not having to worry about kids for the rest of the evening. Babes in arms are the exception. Let us know if you need help figuring the logistics out. We are happy to help and their is plentiful support in the local community to make it all work.

What if I want to raft with the group on Friday but have no experience or gear?

No problem! Wet Planet is a wonderful professional company that provides a full service rafting adventure on one of the most iconic rivers in the world. The White Salmon is a famous river for kayakers and rafters. The section we will float is class III-IV rapids. It will be a guided float, no experience is necessary however it is an adventurous river! Be prepared for very cold water, big drops, a possible swim if you fall out of the boat. Ages 10+. This is not a required activity. It costs $79/person and will be a fun way to get to know the magic of the local White Salmon river and meet with new and old friends!

What is the flow of the Wedding on Saturday June 17th?

Please arrive around 3pm on Saturday 17th for the 4pm ceremony. When you arrive at 721 Sunnyside there will be *beautiful* people there to tell you where to park your car and direct you towards the ceremony site. After the ceremony we will return to the barn for drinks, food, dancing and revelry… if you are camping onsite or you want to come early and hang out or help, anytime after 1pm Saturday is fine.

You are welcome to stop by again on Sunday morning for hugs and hellos between 9-11am. At 11am we will begin a community take down and clean up and we will depart Rancho Farmlands by 1pm.

*This plan is subject to adjustments and we will keep this updated as things evolve.

Are dogs allowed?

Sorry, no visiting pets. Please keep your dogs at home or at the airbnb.

Will I have cell service?

Trout Lake is a bit spotty with service. Most likely you will get service in downtown trout lake, no matter your carrier. However, most people will not have service at the wedding site.
