We first met in 2014 while at York University for Teacher's College. Although Sophia was studying to be an elementary teacher and Michael a high school teacher, our small program allowed for some overlapping classes and retreats.

There was a long hiatus after Teacher's College. "Happy Birthday" messages were shared on an annual basis but our friendship remained digital. It wasn't until a mutual friend (thanks Eileen!) re-connected us in January 2020. The typical "Happy Birthday" message to Sophia from Michael had a bit more "oomph" with an extended conversation that led to a date the following week. It was love at "first sight" after our first date at Joey's in Yorkdale.

From Covid dates to concerts, Quebec City to Orlando, and ski trips to important family milestones, our relationship developed into a strong, loving bond. Somewhere along the way, Michael got an awesome Cockapoo, Dexter, aptly named after the TV show serial killer. He is also spoiled with love, especially by Sophia!

We are proud Wonderland season pass holders, even though Michael needs to take motion sickness medication before going. Michael thought the Winterfest backdrop would be the perfect place to pop the question. Michael was able to surprise Sophia in front of the lit-up carousel. With help from his student videographer, he was able to capture the moment -- thanks Gavin! Thankfully, Sophia said YES!

We are looking forward to planting our roots in Bradford, ON where our love story continues...
