Our Story

POV: Sophie

Back in 2020, I was living in Houston, TX (pre-pandemic). I hadn’t seen my good friend Anna in a while, so we planned a girl’s weekend in Baton Rouge to catch up! My other friend, Sarah, saw that I was in Baton Rouge on Find Friends and told us to come to a house party that her boyfriend was having. Having nothing else to do, we decided why not go! I was immediately overwhelmed when I walked in…there were more than just the normal guys there! Once I got situated, I noticed this very tall man playing beer pong. Sarah nagged me all night to talk to him, but I refused!

Later that night, we decided to go to Fred’s in Baton Rouge. Sarah decided to buy Daniel and me a tequila shot and quickly ran away so we were FORCED to talk to each other. We ended up talking the whole time we were at Fred’s and even got Cane’s together at the end of the night.

The next day, Daniel direct messaged me on Instagram, got my number, and the rest is history! A few weeks later, the country had shut down due to COVID. Many of our “dates” occurred over FaceTime and they have continued every night for the past 4 years!

I could not have asked for a better partner in this life. Daniel is my best friend, my other half. God knew what He was doing when He brought Daniel into my life.

We can’t wait to celebrate this special night with every single one of you!

POV: Daniel

My dad had always told me that she’d fall into my lap like a “ton of bricks” and it would happen when I least expected it. So, I stopped looking for her. Preparing to enter medical school I certainly did not want to start a relationship, but when my friend Jojo told me to come to an LSU party and Sarah’s “hot friends” were going to be there I guess I’d been a fool not to go. When I first saw her, I was intimidated, to say the least. Tall, gorgeous, and a look that had me thinking I didn’t stand a chance. Her friend Sarah introduced us with a joint shot of tequila and the rest just came so easily.

Not long after we met, COVID had just shut down the country. She was living in Houston and I was in Covington, LA and we were forced to Facetime for a majority of the early stages of our relationship. You could say our first date was watching Frozen 2 and drinking craft beer over the phone. We even did a workout over the phone, and even though I told my parents we were just friends, they knew that I don’t do things like that for someone who’s “just a friend.”

Ironically, I thought having a relationship in medical school could potentially complicate things, but not if it’s with the right person. Sophie was the right person. She made everything better and my success was her success and vice versa.

Our story cannot be contained or reduced within a mere few paragraphs. All you need to know is that she is my best friend. We share the same values, interests, faith, and goals. We complement each other and we are so excited to include you all in the celebration of this part of our story.
