Soph was living in Emerald when she matched with a handsome ringer on Tinder. They set up a coffee date on a Sunday morning at Sensory in Emerald. Sophie did what she always does, and talked the entire time, Jake did what he always does and nodded along. The two knew that it was something special and decided to go on another date a few weeks later. Sophie was excited for Jake to come to town again and was worried when he rang that Friday afternoon. Jake had a flat battery and needed a jumpstart. Soph and Meg went and bailed him out and this was the beginning of a new fantastic chapter. Soph supported Jake through multiple job changes and eventually he decided to move to Emerald to start his plumbing apprenticeship. After living in Emerald for a few months, Sophie decided to ask Jake to move into her unit on Retro Street. The pair lived there until Christmas that year when they moved to their new home on Loch Street. It was the home for many parties, games nights and good times. The two attended many race events, country fundraiser balls and even a rodeo or two. They also watched their fair share of football games while Jake was "playing" for the Emerald Rams. To be fair though, Jake spent more time in the ER than on the field... Soph and Jake made many life-long friends in Emerald and will forever cherish the time that they spent there. In May 2023, Sophie was offered a position teaching in Toowoomba and they decided to uproot their lives and move back home. In the space of 8 weeks, they packed everything into the moving truck, started new jobs and bought a house in Meringandan West. In October, Jake took Sophie on a picnic in Laurel Bank Park and asked her to marry him. They are excited to build their little life together in Merry Gandan West and are looking forward to celebrating their engagement with all of their friends and family!
