Stephen and Sophie met in San Jose, CA when they both joined a social sports league (thanks Bridget!) and were randomly put on the same Kickball team. That led to multiple dates over the next few months and their first weekend trip together (to Lake Tahoe)! New experiences like running a half marathon, traveling to Guatemala for a volunteer trip, road-tripping up the East Coast, moving in together, completing the Tahoe Tough Mudder, and hiking or skiing on free weekends brought them closer together.

In December 2016, Stephen flew to CT with Sophie to join her family for Christmas - and he had a surprise with him! Being very sneaky, he asked Sophie's dad for his blessing without her noticing. They then drove down to Pittsburg, PA to spend New Years Eve with Cameron and Katie. After more sneaky planning and secret coordination, Stephen proposed on a beautiful lookout platform on Mount Washington - they even had champagne and glasses hidden in the car!

A few weeks later, Sophie and Stephen also finalized other big plans - moving to Denver! They picked April as the month to move, and drove from CA to Denver with a packed up Tacoma towing a U-Haul trailer. They're still getting to know the area, and can't wait for all the great memories that will come from having friends and family in their new hometown to celebrate getting married!
