Once upon a time in the land of overly sensitive millennials, there were two individuals who were always in the same place at the same time but somehow never crossed paths. Who would of thought that these millennials needed a millennial medium to finally get in front of each other….Instagram.
Jack entered into a deep scroll hole one day, aimlessly scouring the depths of Instagram’s discover page, when he came across a picture of this beautiful girl whom he was sure had 40 million followers and a bio that said not interested.
He clicked on the picture and proceeded to go to her profile, where he saw that they had mutual followers, some of which he grew up playing baseball with. Immediately he knew he had an “in” for starting a conversation. Jack knew he had to get creative though. He couldn’t just send a “Hey, what’s up” as that was way too boring and wouldn’t make him stand out. He knew that he needed to do something different. Whether the first message was unbelievably suave or unbearably cringe, both outcomes would likely garner a response, which is all he wanted to get the conversation rolling.
In typical Jack fashion, he chose to go with the unbearably cringe strategy… See exhibit A for the extremely corny DM (this means direct message for all of our boomers out there), which was the start of this fantastic love story.
Jack and Soph texted for a couple of weeks leading up to Christmas in 2020. This was still early-covid era, so meeting in person was not as easy as it used to be. Knowing
this, Jack decided to invite sophy over for a little New Years Eve get-together that him and his friends had planned. Yes it was probably a long shot to think two strangers would agree to meet at a party in the middle of a global pandemic… But they were young, healthy, and ultimately agreed it was worth the risk.
Shortly after meeting and spending New Years Eve together, they both realized that this connection was different. The butterflies, sparks, whatever you want to call it, were in full effect. Sophy and Jack proceeded to spend the next four days together just because neither of them wanted it to end. Realizing that neither person wanted to go anywhere else, be anywhere else, without that person…. Their priorities were clear and they decided to take that next step which ultimately lead us here!
Congratulations to the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Ross! Cheers.
