Maddy and Spencer occasioned upon one another on a night out with mutual friends on Presidents Day weekend in 2017. They hit it off quickly and went on their first date only days later at a cocktail bar in German Village, Curio, where they spent a couple of hours talking about their lives and how they ended up in Columbus.

After a few months of Spencer's persistence that they should officially date, Maddy said yes. In 2020, Maddy gave Spencer a key that said "yes" to move in together--which he still has on his key chain today. Since then, it's been non-stop dancing late at night in their apartment, planning trips to see friends and family, and conducting questionable "Chopped" style cooking competitions.

In September 2022, Spencer proposed to Maddy on the beach in Chautauqua, NY where she spent her summers as a kid. While the ring was expected at some point... he surprised her with both of their parents there to help pull it all together and celebrate!
