Meet Alexa, bridesmaid and emotional support human! Alexa met Spencer and Sierra while fighting for their lives in what could be called a modern-day psychiatric hospital, more commonly known as a middle school. Spencer and Alexa have been causing (mostly harmless) chaos ever since, with Sierra close behind to save them from trouble. When Alexa isn't hyping Spencer up or fixing Sierra's veil, she enjoys watching her corgi sleep & living a carefree, childless life. She lives in Greenville, SC where she single-handedly keeps many Mexican restaurants in business. She is so thrilled to celebrate Spencer and Sierra - and yes, she brought booze AND snacks.

Savannah has known Sierra since birth and has liked her nearly as long. They spent many years of their lives being lumped into a single entity known as “The Girls,” and though they have spent many years defining their singular identities, they remain closely connected through the bond of their shared girlhood. Savannah is Sierra’s closest confidant and the person she always turns to for comfort, advice, medical input, and the occasional reality check. Savannah has walked with Sierra through every age and stage of her messy romantic life, and has been glad to see her happily settled down and so well taken of by Spencer. Spencer considers herself very lucky to have gained the older sister she always wanted in Savannah. Not everyone wins the in-law lottery, but Spencer certainly has. Both Spencer and Sierra’s lives are deeply enriched by Savannah’s companionship and sisterhood. Savannah currently lives in Greer, SC with her two children, several beloved pets, and thriving (only illegal if you ask her HOA) garden.

Maura met Spencer her first year teaching at SMS. They quickly bonded over the insane expectations placed on teachers - both professionally and personally, and the interesting students they shared. Maura lives in Clemson with her husband Kordell, son (3mo), and their fur baby, Kai.

Savannah met Spencer as first-year teachers on the SMS 7th-grade team in 2021. Being roasted by thirty people half your height in slang you don't know yet is truly a singular experience, and a special one to share with a friend. She lives in northeast Georgia - go dawgs!- with her four little girls: Charlotte (5), Maeve (3), Eileen (1), and Jules (3mo).

Brynn met Spencer in 2013 during their freshman year of high school. Twelve years later, they're practically inseparable, despite being physically apart. Brynn now lives in New York, where she is pursuing her lifelong dream of being a veterinarian, but will always make the trip down to visit any time she can.

Daniel made his way into Spencer’s life, only sort of against her will, one fateful day in October 2001. When asked by a shared high school teacher which of them was the beauty and which of them was the brains, Daniel confidently (and correctly) answered that he was the beauty and Spencer was the brains. All through their childhood, Daniel and Spencer orbited one another, sharing clothes, friends, car rides, and a bathroom. Spencer is entirely grateful for the companionship she found in Daniel, and for the many ways in which having him for a brother made her a better, more compassionate person. With Spencer now living three hours away in NC, Daniel has finally escaped the trap of being “Spencer’s little brother” - except on this wedding website - and has continued to carve out his individualism in many ways. He attended college at Western Governor’s University, is currently acting sales manager at American Eagle, and dotes on his adopted cat, Cera. Daniel lives in Traveler’s Rest, SC with his boyfriend, Kevin, and would love a glass of wine if you’re going to the bar.

Madison has known Spencer for pretty much as much of their lives as they can remember! While most of their childhood shenanigans are too embarrassing to share on a public forum (middle school was a weird time for everyone, right ...?), Madison is proud that Spencer was informally known as "the fourth Smith child" in our families. She is so grateful that their friendship has stood the test of distance and time and that growing up she had Spencer as the most epic Dollywood buddy. Madison lives in Nashville, TN with her darling cat, Clara.

Ashtyn met Spencer when they were too young to even recall the exact moment that they met, and is thrilled to have witnessed all of Spencer's most delightfully awkward and embarrassing life stages (see: middle school). She lives in Nashville, TN and would love for you to ask her about her cats. Also, probably ditto to whatever Maddy said.

Tori and Sierra met living on the same hallway during their Freshman year of college at Appalachian State University. Tori was persistent in her attempts to become friends with Sierra despite Sierra’s best attempts at the time to become a full-fledged recluse. That unyielding offer of friendship changed the trajectory of Sierra’s life. Tori has remained a steadfast pillar of friendship, support, and love for Sierra’s entire adulthood and has enthusiastically opened her arms and heart to Spencer as well. She was one of the witnesses for Sierra and Spencer’s elopement and was an integral part of making their day of saying “I do” as breathtaking as they had imagined. Tori and Aaryn live in Washington, DC where they make the nation’s capital a lot more beautiful and a little more gay.

Merritt and Sierra got to know one another in a college group they were both a part of, but they did not cement their friendship until they traveled to South Africa together. While there, Sierra made Merritt hug her (only a little bit against her will) for a few minutes one night when she was struggling with the shock and fatigue of international travel/sleeping in a tent. Since then, Merritt has remained Sierra’s faithful friend and frequent heckler. Their friendship endures through a mutual love of making plans with one another and then canceling them so that they can both enjoy the rush every introvert gets from backing out of social obligations. Merritt – enthusiastically happy that Sierra found the love of her life – officiated Sierra and Spencer’s elopement with minimal grumbling and abundant love. Merritt and Kailee live outside of Athens, Georgia with their beloved pets and coffee shops close by.

Olivia is living proof that you really can find the best of things on Craig’s list. She responded to Tori’s inquiry for a roommate during her Sophomore year of college and, the following year, greenlit Sierra to move in as well. Olivia was the heart of their home for the two years the three of them lived together, and remains the heart of their friendship in many ways. She is as punny as she is earnest, and as fierce as she is kind. Olivia has welcomed Spencer into the fold and (for better or worse) introduced Spencer to her husband, Jeremy, whose eyes sparkle with the same brand of mischief that Spencer’s do. All other parties are infinitely grateful for the rough seas that kept both Spencer and Jeremy at sea, and likely out of legal trouble, during a Bahamas cruise. Olivia braved driving in a torrential downpour to witness Sierra and Spencer’s elopement, tie Spencer’s shoes, and celebrate their love with them in March. Olivia and Jeremy are currently keeping Charlotte, NC a little safer and a little healthier, one patient at a time.

Aaryn is the best thing that has ever happened to Tori and is, therefore, a welcome addition in Sierra and Spencer’s lives. Though she became their friend by marriage, she has remained their friend by merit. Aaryn is warm, funny, gentle, curious, and kind. She enthusiastically joins in on all shenanigans and increases the hilarity with her silly and easy-going nature. Aaryn dazzles crowds with her incredible karaoke skills, impressive Disney knowledge, and adventurous spirit. She was also an integral part of making Sierra and Spencer’s elopement a special day, and they look forward to many more years of building community together with her. If you find yourself in need of a floral arrangement, a wedding cake on short notice, or an exceptionally good time, Aaryn is your girl.

Kailee has become Sierra and Spencer’s dear friend – potentially against her will – after being thrown into two different back-to-back roadtrips with them (including to their own elopement when they insisted on getting married in NC before they lived there). Kailee is inarguably Merritt’s better half, is bookish, nerdy, and fun to be around. She loves her pets, and Merritt’s farm animals, deeply, and is an exceptional road-trip driver when you are looking to shave substantial time off of your ETA. Almost no one is as grateful for Kailee’s steady, gentle presence in their lives as Spencer and Sierra are. Her passions include video games, anime, and whatever book series Merritt has bullied her into reading now.

Ben and Sierra have been friends since they were in middle school and have only grown closer over the years (not in the least because Ben has let Sierra live with him/crash on his couch on more than one occasion in their adulthood). Ben has always been one of the biggest cheerleader’s/proofreaders of Sierra’s writing, and she has been thrilled to be able to do the same for him as his passion for poetry and short story writing has blossomed in recent years. He is a talented chef, dancer, electrician, and small appliance repairman, and has often arrived, just in the nick of time, to save Spencer and Sierra from fatal renting mistakes. Ben is the kind of friend who shows up. Whether it’s to make dinner, watch Clementine, or just be together, Ben’s company and friendship are steadfast. He lives in Taylors, SC, where he continues to discover darling coffee shops and breath-taking hikes.
