We got engaged June 3rd, 2023. The weather was rainy up until we arrived at the Historic Sallier Oak in Lake Charles, LA. The rain stopped, and as we walked around the museum out front, we saw the most beautiful, enormous oak tree. David led us under it near the trunk and began the most endearing speech I've ever heard. He then asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! After we celebrated at our favorite restaurant, MacFarlane's, and went home to a shelter in place. What a day!
