Our Story

The Story of Chacy

Picture of The Story of Chacy

Chad and Stacy met in the fall of 1993 when Chad auditioned to be a part of The Merrystreet Players at the Grand Opera House in Meridian (now the MSU Riley Center). Stacy remembers Chad auditioning with Garth Brook's The Dance like it was yesterday. Even though Chad was a sophomore at Meridian High School and Stacy was a junior at West Lauderdale High School, they became friends and were a part of the same theatre circles. Stacy ever the studious, cautious student, was entertained by Chad's loud, charismatic, and mischievous ways, even when he helped to get their group kicked out of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, the movies, and probably more... Stacy had one primary boyfriend in high school while Chad dated...everyone. So while they greatly enjoyed each other's company, they did not date in high school and lost touch after graduation.

Life moved on for both for... Decades...

Then... They reconnected in November 2021. They had been Facebook friends for years, but Chad reached out when he saw that Stacy had visited The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. Chad was working with a puppet ministry group and had questions about puppets and the museum. This conversation led to conversations about The Matrix, theatre and more.

That next February, Stacy asked Chad if he liked dancing, to which he replied that he was not a triple threat. Even so, Stacy asked Chad to join her for a Pilobolus performance at the MSU Riley Center. Chad had not been in this space since high school and had not seen the renovations. They met friends prior to the show at Weidmann's, and then went to see Pilobolus, and snuck backstage to see the renovations of the place that they once dominated in their youth, and followed up their exploration with talking at The Boxcar. This "unofficial" date went well and was followed up the next weekend with a date / non-date to see a theatre performance at Meridian High School. Let's just say, they were together just about every weekend after that.

The next 3 - 4 years were filled with highs, like Stacy getting a job with Mississippi Whole Schools, cruises, finding our beagle Harmony (who is really a 2 year old in fur), Chad getting a job at Speciality Roll, and both getting back involved in the Meridian community. As well as lows, like losing both dad's within 4 months, losing aunts and uncles, breaking bones, and finding themselves once again, it has been a journey filled with hope, dedication and love.

They both push each other to be the best that they can be, even when it is outside of their comfort zones. It isn't always pretty, it isn't always fun (but most of the time it is), but it is always real. And... loud. Ha!

We hope that you will join us in the spirit of fun, friendship, and passion. and that you will leave renewed, with the hope that comes from love and finding your person that God has sent for you...
