Our Wedding

Stan&nbsp;is&nbsp;from&nbsp;a&nbsp;large&nbsp;family.&nbsp;He&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;oldest&nbsp;of&nbsp;3&nbsp;children.&nbsp;He&nbsp;has&nbsp;three&nbsp;(3)&nbsp;aunts&nbsp;and&nbsp;four&nbsp;(4)&nbsp;uncles,&nbsp;and&nbsp;seven&nbsp;(7)&nbsp;first&nbsp;cousins&nbsp;on&nbsp;his&nbsp;mother's&nbsp;side&nbsp;alone.&nbsp;His&nbsp;family&nbsp;has&nbsp;grassroots&nbsp;in&nbsp;Bryans&nbsp;Roads,&nbsp;Maryland.&nbsp;He&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;two&nbsp;sisters&nbsp;were&nbsp;born&nbsp;and&nbsp;spent&nbsp;their&nbsp;early&nbsp;childhood&nbsp;in&nbsp;Charles&nbsp;County.&nbsp;His&nbsp;parents&nbsp;separated&nbsp;and&nbsp;from&nbsp;middle&nbsp;school&nbsp;on&nbsp;he&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;family&nbsp;lived&nbsp;in&nbsp;Prince&nbsp;George's&nbsp;Maryland.&nbsp;After&nbsp;his&nbsp;Mother&nbsp;and&nbsp;Father&nbsp;divorced,&nbsp;his&nbsp;mother&nbsp;remarried&nbsp;Larry&nbsp;Sharpe&nbsp;,&nbsp;who&nbsp;raised&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;siters.&nbsp;His&nbsp;father&nbsp;later&nbsp;passed&nbsp;away.&nbsp; &nbsp; Stan&nbsp;has&nbsp;always&nbsp;been&nbsp;a&nbsp;"live&nbsp;life&nbsp;out&nbsp;loud"&nbsp;type&nbsp;of&nbsp;child.&nbsp;and&nbsp;very&nbsp;athletic,&nbsp;He&nbsp;played&nbsp;basketball,&nbsp;baseball,&nbsp;and&nbsp;football.&nbsp;He&nbsp;even&nbsp;tried&nbsp;out&nbsp;to&nbsp;become&nbsp;a&nbsp;professional&nbsp;football&nbsp;player.&nbsp;After&nbsp;missing&nbsp;the&nbsp;opportunity&nbsp;by&nbsp;.50,&nbsp;he&nbsp;focused&nbsp;on&nbsp;raising&nbsp;his&nbsp;family,&nbsp;as&nbsp;becoming&nbsp;a&nbsp;father&nbsp;early&nbsp;in&nbsp;life&nbsp;was&nbsp;exciting&nbsp;and&nbsp;scary&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;same&nbsp;time.&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;nothing&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;his&nbsp;children&nbsp;had&nbsp;stability&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;positive&nbsp;father&nbsp;figure&nbsp;in&nbsp;their&nbsp;lives.&nbsp;While&nbsp;the&nbsp;relationships&nbsp;with&nbsp;both&nbsp;children's&nbsp;mothers&nbsp;had&nbsp;challenges,&nbsp;it&nbsp;resulted&nbsp;in&nbsp;having&nbsp;five&nbsp;wonderful&nbsp;children&nbsp;in&nbsp;total. &nbsp; Stan&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;most&nbsp;caring,&nbsp;selfless&nbsp;person&nbsp;one&nbsp;could&nbsp;meet.&nbsp;He&nbsp;is&nbsp;always&nbsp;the&nbsp;life&nbsp;of&nbsp;every&nbsp;party.&nbsp;His&nbsp;closest&nbsp;friends&nbsp;call&nbsp;him&nbsp;“Heavy”&nbsp;from&nbsp;being&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;lift&nbsp;the&nbsp;heaviest&nbsp;items&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;job.&nbsp;He&nbsp;is&nbsp;as&nbsp;patient&nbsp;as&nbsp;he&nbsp;is&nbsp;caring&nbsp;and&nbsp;love&nbsp;with&nbsp;everything&nbsp;he&nbsp;has.&nbsp;After&nbsp;being&nbsp;single&nbsp;for&nbsp;almost&nbsp;six&nbsp;(6)&nbsp;years,&nbsp;he&nbsp;met&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Shoppers&nbsp;Food&nbsp;Warehouse&nbsp;(grocery&nbsp;store)&nbsp;going&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;orange&nbsp;juice&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;rest&nbsp;is&nbsp;history.

Stan Before Meeting Anita

Anita&nbsp;is&nbsp;also&nbsp;from&nbsp;a&nbsp;large&nbsp;family.&nbsp;She&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;third&nbsp;child&nbsp;of&nbsp;seven.&nbsp;She&nbsp;has&nbsp;six&nbsp;(6)&nbsp;aunts&nbsp;and&nbsp;five&nbsp;(5)&nbsp;uncles&nbsp;and&nbsp;thirty-four&nbsp;(34)&nbsp;first&nbsp;cousins&nbsp;on&nbsp;her&nbsp;mother’s&nbsp;side&nbsp;alone.&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;was&nbsp;born&nbsp;and&nbsp;lived&nbsp;in&nbsp;Washington,&nbsp;DC&nbsp;until&nbsp;her&nbsp;Mother&nbsp;took&nbsp;ill&nbsp;and&nbsp;was&nbsp;unable&nbsp;to&nbsp;care&nbsp;for&nbsp;her&nbsp;and&nbsp;her&nbsp;siblings.&nbsp;Anita’s&nbsp;father&nbsp;was&nbsp;not&nbsp;accepted&nbsp;by&nbsp;her&nbsp;grandparents&nbsp;and&nbsp;in&nbsp;those&nbsp;days,&nbsp;that&nbsp;was&nbsp;the&nbsp;end&nbsp;of&nbsp;that.&nbsp;Therefore,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;and&nbsp;her&nbsp;siblings&nbsp;lived&nbsp;with&nbsp;different&nbsp;family&nbsp;members&nbsp;because&nbsp;there&nbsp;were&nbsp;so&nbsp;many&nbsp;of&nbsp;them.&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;lived&nbsp;with&nbsp;her&nbsp;mother’s&nbsp;sister,&nbsp;Pat.&nbsp;Aunt&nbsp;Pat,&nbsp;her&nbsp;husband&nbsp;and&nbsp;two&nbsp;daughters&nbsp;lived&nbsp;in&nbsp;Prince&nbsp;George’s&nbsp;County&nbsp;where&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;lived&nbsp;throughout&nbsp;school. &nbsp; Anita&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;complete&nbsp;“Tomboy”.&nbsp;She&nbsp;played&nbsp;football&nbsp;(flag/two&nbsp;hand&nbsp;touch/tackle),&nbsp;roller&nbsp;skated,&nbsp;did&nbsp;stunt&nbsp;tricks&nbsp;on&nbsp;her&nbsp;bike,&nbsp;and&nbsp;gymnastics.&nbsp;While&nbsp;she&nbsp;was&nbsp;far&nbsp;from&nbsp;a&nbsp;girly&nbsp;girl,&nbsp;she&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;talker.&nbsp;So&nbsp;much&nbsp;so&nbsp;that&nbsp;one&nbsp;uncle&nbsp;affectionately&nbsp;called&nbsp;her&nbsp;“motor&nbsp;mouth”.&nbsp;Each&nbsp;year,&nbsp;her&nbsp;Uncle&nbsp;Paul&nbsp;hosted&nbsp;the&nbsp;family&nbsp;reunions&nbsp;at&nbsp;his&nbsp;beautiful&nbsp;home&nbsp;in&nbsp;Bryans&nbsp;Road,&nbsp;Maryland.&nbsp;These&nbsp;reunions&nbsp;were&nbsp;the&nbsp;highlight&nbsp;of&nbsp;Anita's&nbsp;childhood,&nbsp;as&nbsp;she&nbsp;loved&nbsp;being&nbsp;around&nbsp;family.&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;recently&nbsp;learned&nbsp;that&nbsp;Stan's&nbsp;grandfather,&nbsp;Joseph&nbsp;Waring,&nbsp;was&nbsp;the&nbsp;master&nbsp;carpenter&nbsp;who&nbsp;built&nbsp;the&nbsp;extension&nbsp;on&nbsp;her&nbsp;Uncle&nbsp;Paul's&nbsp;home.&nbsp;She&nbsp;also&nbsp;learned&nbsp;that&nbsp;Mr.&nbsp;Waring's&nbsp;children,&nbsp;Stan's&nbsp;aunts&nbsp;and&nbsp;uncles,&nbsp;including&nbsp;his&nbsp;mother,&nbsp;went&nbsp;to&nbsp;school&nbsp;with&nbsp;Uncle&nbsp;Paul's&nbsp;children.&nbsp; &nbsp; Having&nbsp;raised&nbsp;children,&nbsp;been&nbsp;married,&nbsp;and&nbsp;divorced&nbsp;before,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;understands&nbsp;potential&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;challenges&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;delicate&nbsp;balance&nbsp;of&nbsp;it&nbsp;all.&nbsp;&nbsp;A&nbsp;few&nbsp;years&nbsp;after&nbsp;her&nbsp;divorce,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;become&nbsp;the&nbsp;primary&nbsp;caregiver&nbsp;for&nbsp;both&nbsp;her&nbsp;Mother&nbsp;and&nbsp;Step-father.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her&nbsp;Step-father&nbsp;passed&nbsp;away&nbsp;a&nbsp;couple&nbsp;years&nbsp;later.&nbsp;&nbsp;As&nbsp;a&nbsp;result,&nbsp;she&nbsp;decided&nbsp;it&nbsp;would&nbsp;be&nbsp;simpler&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;alone&nbsp;until&nbsp;she&nbsp;went&nbsp;to&nbsp;Shoppers&nbsp;Food&nbsp;Warehouse&nbsp;and&nbsp;met&nbsp;Stan.

Anita Before Meeting Stan

After&nbsp;exchanging&nbsp;phone&nbsp;numbers&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;grocery&nbsp;store,&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;called&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;later&nbsp;that&nbsp;evening.&nbsp;He&nbsp;and&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;chatted&nbsp;until&nbsp;it&nbsp;was&nbsp;time&nbsp;for&nbsp;her&nbsp;to&nbsp;start&nbsp;work.&nbsp;During&nbsp;her&nbsp;break,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;couldn’t&nbsp;wait&nbsp;to&nbsp;call&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;back.&nbsp;The&nbsp;conversation&nbsp;between&nbsp;the&nbsp;two&nbsp;of&nbsp;them&nbsp;was&nbsp;so&nbsp;easy.&nbsp;&nbsp;They&nbsp;never&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;hang&nbsp;up.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;at&nbsp;Topolino’s&nbsp;Restaurant&nbsp;went&nbsp;on&nbsp;for&nbsp;about&nbsp;3&nbsp;hours.&nbsp;They&nbsp;shut&nbsp;the&nbsp;restaurant&nbsp;down.&nbsp;They&nbsp;continued&nbsp;the&nbsp;conversation&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;parking&nbsp;lot.&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;knew&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;going&nbsp;out&nbsp;of&nbsp;town&nbsp;the&nbsp;next&nbsp;day&nbsp;but&nbsp;asked&nbsp;if&nbsp;she&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;“hang&nbsp;out”&nbsp;a&nbsp;little&nbsp;longer.&nbsp;Without&nbsp;hesitation,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;agreed&nbsp;to&nbsp;follow&nbsp;him&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;local&nbsp;pool&nbsp;hall,&nbsp;The&nbsp;Hideaway,&nbsp;and&nbsp;they&nbsp;shut&nbsp;that&nbsp;place&nbsp;down&nbsp;too.&nbsp;While&nbsp;they&nbsp;both&nbsp;went&nbsp;home&nbsp;hoping&nbsp;the&nbsp;other&nbsp;was&nbsp;equally&nbsp;as&nbsp;excited&nbsp;about&nbsp;what&nbsp;the&nbsp;next&nbsp;date&nbsp;and&nbsp;beyond&nbsp;would&nbsp;bring,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;was&nbsp;scared.&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;was&nbsp;afraid&nbsp;of&nbsp;entering&nbsp;into&nbsp;another&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;after&nbsp;her&nbsp;last&nbsp;friend&nbsp;passed&nbsp;away&nbsp;the&nbsp;year&nbsp;before&nbsp;from&nbsp;stage&nbsp;four&nbsp;cancer;&nbsp;however,&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;was&nbsp;sensitive&nbsp;and&nbsp;patient.&nbsp;He&nbsp;made&nbsp;his&nbsp;intensions&nbsp;clear&nbsp;and&nbsp;that&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;man&nbsp;of&nbsp;his&nbsp;word.&nbsp;His&nbsp;easy-going&nbsp;demeanor,&nbsp;fun&nbsp;loving&nbsp;nature,&nbsp;attention&nbsp;and&nbsp;commitment&nbsp;to&nbsp;family&nbsp;captivated&nbsp;Anita.&nbsp;When&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;suddenly&nbsp;changed&nbsp;his&nbsp;Facebook&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;status&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;middle&nbsp;of&nbsp;a&nbsp;football&nbsp;game,&nbsp;Anita&nbsp;knew&nbsp;she&nbsp;had&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;to&nbsp;think&nbsp;about&nbsp;because&nbsp;he&nbsp;meant&nbsp;business.

Our Story

One&nbsp;would&nbsp;typically&nbsp;prepare&nbsp;when&nbsp;there's&nbsp;a&nbsp;planned&nbsp;meet&nbsp;and&nbsp;greet.&nbsp;However,&nbsp;when&nbsp;God&nbsp;plans&nbsp;it,&nbsp;one&nbsp;would&nbsp;least&nbsp;expect&nbsp;it.&nbsp;&nbsp;This&nbsp;is&nbsp;exactly&nbsp;what&nbsp;happened&nbsp;to&nbsp;Stan&nbsp;and&nbsp;Anita.&nbsp;&nbsp;However,&nbsp;they&nbsp;are&nbsp;both&nbsp;saying&nbsp;thank&nbsp;you,&nbsp;God.&nbsp;You&nbsp;picked&nbsp;the&nbsp;perfect&nbsp;one&nbsp;for&nbsp;me.

Leila is not just any Wedding Coordinator.  While she has many years of experience in event planning, she is also one of Anita's siblings.  She is number four (4) of the seven siblings.  There are 4 girls and 3 boys.

Robert, affectionately known as Robby, is Anita's first-born son.  Their bond is like no other.  Often times no spoken words are needed to understand each other.  So, it was easy for Robby to know how Anita felt about Stan immediately.  Therefore, without question, Robby was honored to accept this role.

Robert Weeks, Jr.

Shelly and Anita were neighbors in Upper Marlboro where Anita bought her first home.  They were advid fitness partners and have been friends for 28 years now.

Angela aka "Angie" and Anita met in Washington, DC where Anita acquired her first apartment.  Angela worked in the building.  One day Anita noticed how tired Angela looked and offered to make her a sandwich, which Angela accepted.  They became inseparable and have been friends for over 35 years.

Angela Stephens

Monica is Anita's oldest sister of their mother's seven children.  She is one of the strongest people Anita knows.  Monica has raised eight children of her own and faces challenges like an umbrella in the rain.  Through much humor, those challenges just role off her back.  Monica has always been the undercover comedian of the family and can't wait to share to bring a belly laugh. 

Monica Browne

London is Anita's goddaughter/bonus daughter.  Clearly a gift from God.  Having only raised sons, London brought the sunshine and rain (aka pain).  Anita learned quickly the difference of raising girls than boys - a lot of passion.  Anita considered this an exciting and honorable responsibility that made her a better parent. 

London Folsom

Torrance and Stan have been friends for 25 years.  They share some crazy stories.  Can always been found or called out with a, "Hootie Hoo!!"

Torrance Dolman

Marvin and Stan have been friends for 33 years.  From playing basketball and video games, they've been rolling every since.

Marvin Holland

James and Stan are first cousins.  They have been known for being extremely competitive.  The competition was their link to bringing their family bond even stronger.

James Penny

Marcus and Stan are first cousins.  Marcus and James are brothers.  So, with Stan being the only son in his family, Stan has seen Marcus has his younger brother and hopes Marcus looks up him, as Stan looks up to Marcus.  

Marcus Penny

Saphira is Stan's youngest child, who holds a special place in his heart.

Saphira Leatherbury

This person has been in Stan's life through many ups and downs, even some back and forths.  They argued like cats and dogs, but their love makes their relationship stronger, and nothing can tear them a part.
