Like any great love story, it took faint chance to bring Stef and Matt together.

Living in California in March 2020, Matt headed back to his home state of New Jersey for what he thought was a few weeks to wait out Covid. Weeks quickly turned into a month, and after celebrating a quiet birthday, it became clear he wasn't headed back west any time soon.

Living back at his parent's home full time for the first time in a decade and losing his mind a bit, he downloaded a dating app and began browsing.

Stef, living in her Wharton condo just down the road, also decided to jump on a dating app. Looking for something more meaningful than she'd found previously, she lowered her age range for the first time.

With that quiet birthday just two days earlier, Matt now met Stef’s minimum age setting, and quickly they were connected.

After a handful of hours long 'Zoom' dates, they knew they needed to meet. With every single conventional date spot shuttered, the most logical location quickly became clear: Stef and Matt’s first in-person date was at ShopRite, the grocery store.

Masked and gloved, they walked up and down each aisle, again and again, hoping the night would never end.

Even though Matt didn’t pick up the bill on the date (it was a big haul), it was the perfect first night capped off with the perfect first kiss. A risk during an uncertain time, no doubt, but well worth it.

Fast forward to 2025, their relationship continues to strengthen through a shared love of their pets Sapphire & Gem, traveling, splitting the Guinness 'G', and so much more.
