The Evening

here's a classic engagement gif for ya. 

So we are going to have a little life party and you're all invited!

We met at a sandwich shop. (pictured above: march 20, 2015 our first sleepover-- before phones took good photos) As we got to know one another, we slowly realized our paths had been winding around each other for our entire lives. She (Stein) was born (right on time) April 12, 1994 in LA. I (Tambo) was born (a couple weeks late) on May 3, 1994 in Santa Rosa. I moved out of Santa Rosa in 2003. She moved in to Santa Rosa in 2004, making friends with the very people I was sad to leave behind. In 2013, I got a job at a sandwich shop across from the junior college. Immediately, all I heard about was Kaitlin Stein, a legend who had just left for New Zealand. Lucky for us, she came back to work after I had gotten my feet under me. After 19 years, our paths were finally destined to cross, and I was determined to prove myself to this stranger. Our first day of work together set the tone for our entire relationship. Just the two of us were in the kitchen that day. Without saying a word beyond "hi", we each competed to prove we could handle anything. By the end of that lunch rush, we had established respect for one another. We were friends immediately. Two years went by like this. Two very private people, slowly getting to know each other, with no notions of becoming anything more than friends but definitely a lot of teasing. Just two kids, wishing we had met long before, wanting to know everything about and never growing tired of each other. We talked each other through heartbreak, work drama, and life's bigger questions until we were inseparable. Somewhere along the line-- probably one at a time-- we fell in love. After a lot of cautious hinting, and finally a little risk taking, we became (very privately) official in 2015. Together we've already done so much. We've opened sandwich shops, moved across state lines, travelled to six countries...It's hard to believe it started so long ago and yet there is still so much ahead of us. Celebrating our love with you all is another huge step on our lifelong path.

"Registry"

We met at a sandwich shop in 2013 and got together in 2015. We plan on staying that way, so we're having a two-part celebration. We invite our loved ones to get together, chill, maybe party a little, and dance some! You are not being invited to a wedding ceremony. If you're family, we'll be spending a calm and elegant afternoon exchanging love and gratitude over lunch (there will be wine and vistas). If you're friends, we'll be spending the evening together in a kickback fashion. There will be food and revelry, but no bussers or bartenders in the evening. We're literally hanging out just us.

What is going down?

Sonoma County is seriously the best place ever. There's awesome food (&amp; bevvies); within an hour you can get to the beach, the redwoods, the City (that's SF)-- but also Oakland, Berkeley... For our friends who haven't spent a lot of time here (Oregon peeps), we have compiled a brief list of some of our favorite places, in case you find time to explore. If getting around by car isn't an option for you, coordinate with us and we'll find a way to swoop you.

Armstrong Redwoods

Walk through the redwoods, it's really cool. Fun Fact: This is the first place we ever hung out, and one of our favorite places to sneak off to. Go crawl in a <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/redwood-trees-the-phenomenon-of-goose-pens--416864509263606232/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">goose pen</a> and feel like a korok. Note: It's very doable to drive from the redwoods to the coast in an afternoon. Take 116 to follow the river from the forest to the sea, then take Highway 1 south from Jenner to Bodega.

Bodega Bay

Bodega Bay is amazing. It's also usually pretty cold and windy, you will not enjoy it if you don't prepare for the cold. Drive along the winding cliffs of Bodega, pull off whenever possible. There are lots of tide pools, coves, and dunes to explore. Stop at the <a href="https://www.sonomacounty.com/profiles/dog-house/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dog House</a> to fuel your adventure with endless fries and unlimited toppings (check their hours tho). <a href="https://g.co/kgs/1S9yPxn" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bodega Dunes Beach</a>Anywhere between Bodega Head and Jenner (pictured below) is excellent; the beach highlighted above is just a starting point. From Bodega, anywhere is within reach. Go West toward Sebastopol /anywhere in Sonoma County for a delicious meal, and stop at <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/Wild+Flour+Bread/@38.3751938,-123.0395543,12z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x8084274dbab23c5d:0xe4ea395a17784908!2sBodega+Bay,+CA!3b1!8m2!3d38.33325!4d-123.0480571!16s%2Fm%2F01zc23k!3m5!1s0x80842ff71f82c4a1:0x6fbb0f91a0d2f87c!8m2!3d38.3727778!4d-122.9125!16s%2Fg%2F1tfcz0fd?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDMwNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">wild flour bread</a> if it's open! Sebastopol

Sebastopol is the best, if you've never been please don't stop at just the Barlow (if you're there though there's a new barcade). Do some birdwatching in the Laguna wetlands. The skatepark behind the high school has nice art.&nbsp;Walk down main street and try the Sebastopol Cookie company. Get a burrito from Ochoa's (or el favarito) and take it to Ives Park. Or Ragle park if you're driving. The sandwiches at Pacific Market are actually really solid, great for taking to the beach, which is only thirty minutes away!

The Petrified Forest

The Petrified Forest, home to the largest petrified trees in the world, will show you a completely different side of our home. It's on the way to the Tambornini's family cabin (location undisclosed), and if you drive out there, you'll likely see evidence of some of the fires that have passed through in the last decade. Highway 101 is kind of the eastern border for redwoods in this area; beyond that, the land gives way to oak woodland, and as you drive further up the hills going east, you'll end up in some pretty scrubby chaparral. Suffice it to say it's a bit hotter around the freeway and heading east, and noticeably cooler in West Sonoma County. If you're into geology, forestry, or weird environmental phenomena, it's worth heading out there.
