I'm adding this section as a place to communicate information you need and tidbits I feel like sharing.&nbsp; For example, today Louis and I spent an hour and a half working on the registry at Bed Bath and Beyond.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is much more complicated than we figured. Much research to do on products and then we'll go back next week.&nbsp;

Picture it:&nbsp; Washington DC, March 2010.&nbsp;&nbsp;My friends suggested that I join them for MADJam - an international swing dance competition.&nbsp; For those of you who don't dance, imagine 800 people (it's grown since then) packed in a hotel and an overflow hotel for classes, competitions, and then social dancing from midnight till dawn.&nbsp; It's great fun!On Friday afternoon,&nbsp;&nbsp;I joined my friend (and bridesmaid) Jamie for a class.&nbsp; A tall gentleman asked us if one of us wanted to dance a little to&nbsp;warm up before the class.&nbsp; I said yes.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was a good dancer - much better than me - and I enjoyed myself, so we danced again after the class. Turns out, this gentleman was Louis Sheridan.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had traveled to the event by himself at the last minute from Charleston, SC.&nbsp; Raleigh had dozens of people there, so we adopted him for the weekend.On Saturday night (okay, probably about 3am Sunday morning)&nbsp;as he was leaving the ballroom to walk back to his hotel, I offered him my email address.&nbsp; Talk about a faux pas!&nbsp; He thought I was blowing him off, and he said he didn't want it.&nbsp;&nbsp;I thought I was giving him a more reliable way of contacting me, so I was miffed.&nbsp; So that was over.Or was it?&nbsp;Sunday morning, we crossed paths in the lobby as my friends and I were leaving.&nbsp; One of them had gotten his phone number over the weekend and&nbsp;they convinced me that this was a missed opportunity if I didn't text him.&nbsp; I did, and we texted most of the way home. And talked the next day.&nbsp; And the next.&nbsp; And we decided he would come up to Raleigh the next weekend for the St. Patrick's Day Parade.&nbsp;And to paraphrase "Casablanca" - "Louis, this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!"&nbsp;

Atlanta Swing Classic

I'm sad to say that we are having our wedding on the Friday night of <a href="http://atlantaswingclassic.com/" target="_blank">Atlanta Swing Classic 2018</a>.&nbsp; However, our motto is, Why "OR"&nbsp;when you can "AND"?

While you will miss strictlys if you attend our wedding, there are Saturday morning&nbsp;flights that will have you in Atlanta in time for Saturday afternoon&nbsp;Jack and Jills... and since you always stay Sunday (right?) then you still get some fabulous dancing!

Delta has non-stops that leave at 6:30am, 8:30am, and 11am

Southwest has one that leaves at 7:15am

Details

Kevin is the one who convinced Louis to begin dancing, so in many ways, he's the one to thank for this wedding&nbsp;even happening.&nbsp; He's also a foodie with a great sense of humor and has taught both of us quite a bit about food, wine, and life.

Keeley and Stephanie met at the Elks Lodge more than a decade ago.&nbsp; They've seen each other through many late-night apps at the original Lynnwood, baking extravaganzas, and last-minute cleaning/packing/shopping sessions.&nbsp; They've followed one-another down plenty of rabbit holes, and are always there on the other side.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Clayton has known Louis since elementary school, and there isn't enough room on this page for me to try to describe their relationship.&nbsp; Suffice to say, I hope our relationship proves as sturdy as their friendship.

Jodi and Stephanie met at WRAL and quickly bonded over crossword puzzles. They spend their free time outside the office in search of the Triangle's best Bloody Mary and brainstorming about where news is going and how to make it happen today.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jodi actually volunteered to wear an ugly dress for this wedding - I hope I've chosen something that does NOT&nbsp;fall in that category.

Kathe and Stephanie met when Lindy was a regular part of our lives.&nbsp; When her hair was red, she was often mistaken for my older sister (oops - I don't have one!), and she might as well be since she listens patiently to all my rants.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jamie and&nbsp;Stephanie met at a party on a back porch more than a decade ago.&nbsp; Fast forward to 2014, when Stephanie was Jamie's&nbsp;maid of honor and accidentally made the whole room crack up when she started her toast with the word,"Finally."&nbsp; Jamie will not be giving a toast at this wedding ;) (Ok, maybe a few words at the rehearsal&nbsp;:)&nbsp;)

There is an international Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh the weekend of our wedding.&nbsp;&nbsp;As such, much of the downtown Raleigh room inventory is already booked, and AirBnB costs are outta sight for that weekend in the downtown area.

We have chosen a room block near the airport and also near our house for the family who may be flying in.&nbsp;&nbsp;We can help you locate a good hotel if you want to be elsewhere in the city, or if the room block is full.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I'll add links to a few hotels we can vouch for, and please ask if you need any other help!&nbsp;

Heads up!!!! 

Here is a map of Market Hall and the surrounding area.&nbsp; We have also highlighted your best parking deck options in blue icons.&nbsp; If you want to interact with that map, please click <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/kP6dwWKU7e22" target="_blank">here</a>.&nbsp; A note for locals: there will be little to no parking in City Market itself, Moore Square will still be under renovations, and the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival&nbsp;will be happening in the streets of downtown Raleigh (mostly 2 blocks up on Fayetteville St.)&nbsp;at the same time as the wedding,&nbsp;so a parking deck may be your best bet. We've also secured a 18 passenger shuttle that will depart for the hotel at least twice after the cake cutting.

Unfortunately, the answer is, yes, but not as much as we would hope. You may want to consider a rental car if you will be traveling to see more than the rehearsal and wedding.&nbsp;&nbsp;Uber and Lyft are thriving here in the Triangle.&nbsp; An Uber from the Brier Creek area (where we have the hotel block) is about $30 one-way.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Slightly north of downtown along Wake Forest Road, just beyond&nbsp;the Beltline. Couldn't get enough rooms here for a block and it wasn't near us.&nbsp; Highly recommend&nbsp;car or Uber for most trips.&nbsp; (It is, however, near Trader Joe's and delish sushi!)

Hyatt Place North Raleigh-Midtown

Walking distance from NC&nbsp;State, yet with that comes the sound of the Belltower, so ask for a room on the OTHER&nbsp;side of the hotel.&nbsp; I've stayed here during weather coverage, and it's quite a comfy place.&nbsp;&nbsp;Restaurants walking distance, short Uber to the ceremony,&nbsp;but minimal shopping.&nbsp; With no airport shuttle, you'll need a car here.

Downtown Raleigh hosts this festival each year, and this time it's our wedding weekend!&nbsp;They say it's the largest urban bluegrass festival in the world.&nbsp; Imagine food, vendors, beer, and great music all in wandering distance.&nbsp; Live music all weekend, indoors and out!

Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

One of the best treasures in the state, and admission is free!&nbsp; I'll link to any exhibits that are coming through as time draws near.&nbsp; However, the permanent collection and the grounds are worth it on their own.The NCMA's permanent collection had its beginning in 1947 when the North Carolina General Assembly appropriated $1 million for the purchase of works of art, making North Carolina the first state in the nation to use public funds to buy art.

Orange County commissioners are committed to preserving our heritage while preparing for growth. In that spirit, they’re sponsoring a festival called&nbsp;<a href="http://www.orangecountylocalfest.com/">LocalFest</a>, at Blackwood Farms on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All are welcome, and admission is free. The theme for the day is&nbsp;local: local music, from gospel to bluegrass; local foods, from cornbread to cheese and pies; and local brews. Also pony rides, games and food for kids.

LocalFest - Orange County Fair

A favorite haunt for the wedding couple.&nbsp;&nbsp;Delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere, and while no-one yells "Norm!" at us we feel at home there.For some fun snack food the pepperoni rolls, pickle chips, pretzel bites, and chicken cakes are all excellent choices!&nbsp;

Lynnwood Grill & Brewing Concern

Raleigh has a great brewery scene, and this one of the good ones with an old western theme near the hotel block.&nbsp; Check their website as they frequently also have rotating food trucks serving tasty food. Sweet Josie, and Shotgun Betty are popular choices.

Lonerider Taproom

Another example of the great Raleigh brewing scene near the hotel, this one more maker / tinker themed.Deep Blue Saison and Beekeeper Honey Wheat are tasty choices.
