Atlanta is a city of vibrant, distinct neighborhoods that offer a little something for everyone. Whether you’re ITP (inside the Atlanta Perimeter) or OTP (outside the Atlanta Perimeter), you’ll find plenty to explore, all within a short drive. Around here, a 30-minute drive is considered “just down the road!”
From the city streets of Midtown to the charming small-town feel of Roswell, each area has its own unique character. Below, I’ve highlighted a mix of must-visit spots in Atlanta and nearby areas around Roswell for dining, shopping, and sightseeing:
Tucked along Vickery Creek, the ruins of the Roswell Mill trails features a waterfall, the original machine shop, and a covered pedestrian bridge linking Old Mill Park to the Chattahoochee River trail system. This park holds a special place in our hearts—it’s where we spent high school days cliff jumping, hiking the trails with friends and family, and creating many memories.
The Roswell Riverwalk is a beautiful greenway along the Chattahoochee River, perfect for nature lovers. It’s one of our favorite spots to take our dog Benny for a walk, with its scenic boardwalk, stunning river views, and breathtaking sunsets.
Avenue East Cobb offers a blend of shopping and dining. Indulge in some retail therapy at stores like Sephora, Williams-Sonoma, and more. Or grab a bite to eat at restaurants like Peach State Pizza.
Located on Canton Street in Historic Roswell, 1920 Tavern is one of our favorite spots, offering a cozy speakeasy vibe and one of the best espresso martinis in town!
For a delicious steak dinner, Little Alley Steak is the place to be. With an exceptional wine list and perfectly cooked steaks, it’s one of our favorite spots for a romantic date night.
Avalon, in the heart of Alpharetta, is a vibrant 86-acre community with shopping, dining, and entertainment all in one place. From its upscale stores and restaurants to a luxury movie theater and residences, it’s perfect for a day out or a night on the town.
The Georgia Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world, is home to thousands of marine animals, including whale sharks, dolphins, and sea otters. It’s a must-visit destination in Atlanta, offering stunning exhibits and immersive experiences.
In the heart of the Old Fourth Ward along the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail, Ponce City Market is a go-to spot for dining, shopping, and entertainment. Enjoy a bite and a drink at the food hall, browse the unique shops, and don’t miss the rooftop for stunning city views!
The Atlanta Beltline is a vibrant outdoor space featuring 22 miles of repurposed railroad tracks connecting Atlanta’s in-town neighborhoods. With trails, green spaces, parks, and easy access to dining and attractions, it’s a great way to explore the city.
For a delicious Southern meal, Miller Union is a must-visit. Known for its farm-to-table approach, this Atlanta staple highlights fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in seasonal dishes that celebrate the region’s flavors. Founded by Chef Steven Satterfield, a James Beard Award winner, and General Manager Neal McCarthy, it’s a cornerstone of Atlanta’s culinary scene.
Our favorite sushi spot in Atlanta! This hidden gem serves some of the freshest, most delicious sushi and has been our go-to for celebrating life’s big and small moments. Don’t miss the Hamachi Kama and their signature Cowgirl and Cowboy Hat rolls!
Mamak is a cozy hidden gem serving some of the best Malaysian street food in Atlanta. Be sure to try the Roti Canai, Curry Laksa, and Hainanese Chicken!
