Joe and Steph met at the Zac Brown Band Concert on August 5th, 2021. They quickly became Instagram friends where they exchanged a few messages. A month later they would go on their first date at McMurphys in Ridgewood, NJ. It didn’t take long for the two to become smitten. After several trips between Fair Lawn and Hoboken, Steph would then pack up her apartment and move in with Joe, completely transforming his bachelor pad into a cozy and warm apartment for them to grow into together.
For the first year of their relationship, Joe and Steph were practically inseparable. From Halloween parties and haunted houses to Broadway shows and Jets games, these two have always made the best of their time together. They soon made it official and introduced one another to each other's families. They would spend weekends at Mountain Creek, sharing their love for skiing together, followed by nights at 8th Street Tavern with a pitcher of beer. Later, Joe invited Steph into his NBA world, going to Cleveland for the 75th Anniversary of the All Star game and the NBA finals in Boston!
A few days before New Years, Joe shared with Steph that they would be going to dinner with his coworkers New Year's Day in Hoboken. Steph’s sister Rebecca insisted on doing her hair and makeup, which was not unusual when they are together. Kim and Rebecca also made sure she wore a cute new sweater dress she received as a gift for Christmas, with new boots and a new purse to match.
As they made their way to the restaurant, Joe couldn’t have played it cooler. They got out of the car, and Joe asked Steph to walk around Pier A in Hoboken, as his coworkers were running a little late. As they turned the corner, Steph notices a red carpet and lights, stating the best question Steph has ever been asked, “Will you Marry Me?” Little did Steph know, both her sister Kim and his brother Dan were hidden amongst the crowd in the park, secretly filming this special moment. He would guide her down the lit red carpet, get down on one knee and the rest is history!
