It all started the night before the world shut down in March 2020. We met at a local bar through mutual friends—just hours before Covid closed everything down. Strange timing? Maybe. But from that night on, something just clicked, and we’ve been growing together ever since.
Through long-distance, college, and chasing our goals, we held strong. It wasn’t always easy, but our love (and a bunch of road trips) kept us close. From month-long cross-country drives to quick adventures, we’ve explored new states like Vermont, New York, Louisiana, Arizona, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, and visited family in Michigan and Texas.
After four years, “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” just felt too casual for what we mean to each other. We’ve been each other’s home through it all.
Then came 4.11.25—a hockey game we’ll never forget. Jack planned to propose at a Knight Monsters game, complete with our song and a “Will You Marry Me Stephanie?” on the jumbo screen. He even had our friend ready to capture the moment on video. But of course, in classic “life doesn’t follow the script” fashion, things almost went sideways. Before the game, Steph—totally unaware of the plan—offered to switch seats so their friend wouldn’t have to sit alone. Cue panic mode.
Thankfully, Jack called in a quick save with the Monsters admin, and the plan was back on track. Just before the big moment, Steph was about to run to the bathroom, and Jack (suspiciously) insisted they had to stay and watch the Zamboni. Steph almost didn’t buy it—until our song started playing and the big screen popped the question.
She said yes 💍
We celebrated the rest of the game surrounded by cheers, and love—and now we can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with all of you.
