Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Adam and Stephanie had rom-com worthy meet-cute. They originally met in 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina. Steph lived in Charleston, and Adam was in Raleigh, North Carolina. They had a mutual friend who worked at a dental office that was reaching out to people to participate in a lifestyle video. The two of them spent a lot of time together on set and immediately hit it off. Adam later asked Steph to dinner, to which she responded with the infamous "I have a boyfriend."

A few months later, an undeterred Adam reached out on Facebook to see if Steph had seen the video. Steph never responded.

Two years later, Steph was walking into the Spanish class she was teaching at the College of Charleston and noticed a Facebook message come through from Adam. "Hey hey Steph. Know this is out of the blue a little, but how ya been stranger?"

After about three hours of messaging via Facebook, the conversation moved to text. They immediately dove into conversations about their core values, what they wanted in a partner, and their dealbreakers before finally deciding that Adam should come to Charleston for a visit.

Upon arriving, the two felt extremely comfortable and familiar with one another. Adam, a true gentleman, came with flowers and champagne for Steph and, of course, a prize for Mina. They went to Uptown Social that night and ended up eating Benny's pizza outside of a boutique on King Street. The next day, they had their first "official" date with bagels and coffee at Remley's Point with a backdrop of the Ravenel Bridge.

As the saying goes, when you know, you know.

Over the next four years, they would move to Raleigh, Concord, and ultimately land in Huntersville, North Carolina, where they built their first home. They welcomed Spud into the family, without consultation from Mina, she would like to add. They would attend over 15 weddings together and celebrated big wins and losses along the way.

Their engagement was a complete surprise to Steph, who was told that Adam's new boss was in town and wanted to have dinner. By some force of the universe, she talked herself into using the extra 45 minutes she had between work and dinner to do something for herself and get her nails done. Adam had schemed with Avery, Steph's childhood best friend and Maid of Honor. He hired a photographer, bought props, and staged the most romantic proposal on the rooftop of the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charlotte. After the big moment, all of their friends and family were waiting in the bar to surprise them and celebrate.

He understood the assignment.

Adam and Steph both firmly believe that timing and their extreme openness in the beginning of their relationship ultimately led them to creating such a beautiful love story.

Here's to the Shoregashes! We can't wait to celebrate with you!
