In early 2019, Steve had recently begun playing in a band with two musicians that he had been connected with through happenstance only months earlier. As bandmates developed into great friends, the band begun to hang out outside of practice sessions. Steve was lucky enough to be invited to attend a birthday celebration for one of his bandmates’ friend, an all-day celebration aptly referred to as “Curtapalooza” after the birthday man himself, Michael Curtis. As Steve wondered through the halls of Grandview Yard in search of the celebration, he prepared himself to meet many new faces and make a good impression as this was his first invitation to tagalong with this already established friend group. Upon entering the apartment, handshakes, introductions, and cold beverages were exchanged and unbeknownst to Steve, the usual life of the party, Steph, was quietly observing the new outsider as he made the rounds. As the day and celebration progressed, the two struck up a conversation and their connection grew stronger throughout the night. As luck would have it, the timing couldn’t have been better for the both of them in their lives to see where this connection could lead too.
Over the following weeks and months, Steph and Steve went on many dates and gradually became inseparable. The outbreak of Covid during the early stages of their relationship only served to help the two spend plenty of time together and grow closer. The two moved in together in the Summer of 2022 into a small house in the heart of Grandview and have loved exploring the neighborhood and hosting friends and family any chance they get. Over the years, Steph and Steve have enjoyed many adventures together and share a phenomenal group of friends and family that have supported them and helped their relationship flourish.
Over the course of their relationship, Steve has grown very close with Steph’s family, including her Dad and two brothers. During the summer the four of them often golf together and it was during one of these rounds of golf that Steve was able to ask permission for their daughter and sister’s hand in marriage. It is said that Steve let them all get to a comfortable lead and waited until the 18th tee to ask for permission just to ensure the odds of a “yes” were in his favor.
This initial “yes” kicked off multiple months long planning process in hopes of eventually securing the most important “yes” from Steph. After months of careful planning and secrecy, the plan was executed to perfection with the assistance from so many friends and family to which thanks are still owed to this day. On August 26th, 2023, after a seemingly normal stroll around German Village before dinner veered unexpectedly into Frank Fetch Park, Steph said “Yes” to Steve. While still flustered from the initial surprise, Steph was then carefully steered to an after-party where she was surprised by dozens of friends and family to celebrate with for the rest of the day. As Steve and Steph continue to the next exciting chapter of their lives, it is with great love and appreciation for all of those who have helped, loved, and supported them and their relationship to this day and who they are excited to celebrate with on their wedding day!
