Hi, guys! We are so excited to celebrate our marriage with you all this weekend. We love you and are so grateful to have you in our lives. Thank you for making the trip to New Orleans to be with us during this special time. We hope you love and enjoy the city as much as we do. Below are places where we can all meet up on Thursday and Friday nights, and continue celebrating on Saturday night, as well as suggestions of what to see and where to go during your stay.

General Tips:

-Get the Gambit Weekly magazine which will list different music acts, art exhibits, community offerings and the like for the week. You can get a Gambit at most any coffee shop or hotel.

-You can also check out the events calendar on the Nola.com website or app. Go to the entertainment section and click on events calendar, which will list special events, exhibits and musical acts. http://www.nola.com/events/

-It is very easy to appreciate the beauty of New Orleans simply by walking around different neighborhoods, especially during the day. Areas to explore for beautiful architecture and lots of history are the French Quarter and the Garden District (St. Charles to Magazine/Jackson Ave. to Washington Ave. for the homes and Magazine Street for the shops). Also taking the streetcar or driving down St. Charles Avenue is worth the trip to see the beautiful homes.

-For shopping and strolling uptown, try Magazine Street between Nashville and St. Mary, which is a really long stretch. Nicer clothing shops for women mostly between Nashville and Louisiana. Antiques and vintage type places between Louisiana and St. Mary. Galleries all along the way.

-For kids, the Zoo, Aquarium and Insectarium are all great.

-City Park is beautiful and the New Orleans Museum of Art is there and it, as well as the sculpture garden next to it, are great.

-If you want to take a tour, Cajun Encounters offers half day and full day tours which are great. There are also walking tours of the French Quarter that your concierge can arrange for you. The plantations are really beautiful and your hotel can arrange a tour, or if you've rented a car you can drive, but they are about an hour away.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS, organized by neighborhood:

In the French Quarter/CBD:

RESTAUARANTS

- Arnaud's -New Orleans has several elegant, classic creole restaurants with a ton of history in the Quarter. Arnaud's is excellent and my favorite. Men need jackets.

-Restaurant August-awesome for foodies, upscale with cool atmosphere; food is great, John Besh is famous local chef

-Mr. B's Bistro great Brennan family restaurant (Brennans have lots of nice restaurants in town)

-Gumbo Shop is low key and really good spot for lunch.

- Felix's Oyster Bar is great low key place with typical casual New Orleans fare for lunch. Try the raw and the charbroiled oysters (you can get good po-boys here too; I recommend getting half shrimp and half oyster).

-Cane and Table- great cocktails and great food

-Port of Call is the best burger joint with great atmosphere and great bloody mary's; is on Esplanade Ave

-Café Du Monde of course for beignets and coffee

-Central Grocery for muffalatas-Italian sandwiches only really found in new Orleans-great!!

BARS

-Frenchmen street is great for music; just walk down the street and pop in the places that sound good: Snug Harbor, DBA, Café Negril, Spotted Cat, Blue Nile, Maison-anywhere on the street…you can't go wrong.

-Preservation Hall is old school. Great music. There is a pre-set time of performances and you usually have to wait in line, so go early. Children can go as well.

-One Eyed Jack's, great, cool place with hipper, non-Nola kinda of acts.

-Hermes Bar-next to Antoine's; nicer bar place with good vibe

-Napolean House-old school bar that was a hideaway option for Napolean back in the day

-Pat O'Brians-touristy but fun. If you go, check out to the piano bar.

-Old Absinthe House is where a lot of locals hang; on Bourbon Street

-Gold Mine is late night dance/dive bar fun in quarter

-Fritzel's is a fun jazz place, but can get a little crowded and touristy

-Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith House is fun, old school bar; locals like it

-House of Blues has some great acts

Warehouse district:

RESTAURANTS

-Cochon is great creole place. Lots of pork product.

-Peche-same guy who owns Cochon. Lots of fish product. Great.

-Emeril's-it's his flagship restaurant; banana crème pie is delish

-Meril-new restaurant from Emeril that is great with great ambience. Small plates

-Herbsaint is awesome; on St. Charles. Duck confit and gnocchi are excellent.

-Willa Jean-brunch place that's great

-Seaworthy-new restaurant next to Ace. Has NYC feel and great seafood.

-Rockin' Sake is good sushi but loud

BARS in warehouse district:

-Rusty Nail-dive bar but fun

-Cellar Door-cool spot in an old house

-Ace Hotel-bar on roof and bar downstairs both great

Uptown:

RESTAURANTS

-Lilette is French bistro type place that's a favorite; mushroom crustini is a must

-Clancy's is great; nicer place, very good food, get oysters with brie

-Patois is also great with a great vibe

-Domalise's is a great lunch spot for po-boys

-Casamento's is a great oyster place

-Shaya is a new Israeli food spot that was voted best new restaurant in the country last year

-Jacque-Imo's-ecclectic place upton near universities. Fried roast beef poboy and alligator cheesecake are best things to get

BARS

-Cure is great mixology place. On Freret St.

-Bouligny is good wine bar next to Lilette

-The Columns is great for early evening; GREAT bloody Mary's; Pretty Baby was filmed there; on St. Charles Ave in old mansion

-Barrel Proof-is a nice bar specializing in whiskey on Magazine Street close to warehouse district

-Tipitina's is a classic music venue on Tchoupitoulas; check listing for acts

-F&M's: late night bar. Dance on pool table. Must get cheese fries. On Tchoupitoulas. Young and fratty but fun with a group.

-Oak is nice wine bar with good atmosphere on Oak street

-The Maple Leaf is a great music bar; kinda a trek if you're downtown; on Oak Street; Rebirth brass band there every Tuesday night
