We first met early in 2016, working at the same company in Scottsdale, AZ. Friendship came easily, as we began playing Pokemon Go, along with most of the office, at the time, and we found that we had quite a bit in common. Sometime over the course of the next two years, we decided that we both needed to get back to reading, which we both enjoyed but hadn't been finding the time for, so we decided to make our own little book club. We Googled "best sci fi books," and took a look at the lists to find something to start with, and settled on Hyperion, by Dan Simmons. In the end, we read the entire series, and compared our thoughts on each chapter of each book along the way. Not only are the books excellent reads (and you should read them!), but they served as an amazing bonding experience.
In early 2018, we moved from friendship into dating, taking trips, and having new adventures together. All the while, Hyperion stuck with us--we feel like we are connected across time and space, like Raul and Aenea are in the books. We have even taking to visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings, and even his winter home of Taliesin West, which is an important place in the books. This is why we call our home the "Hyperion Bungalow," and why on March 6th, 2020, Noah asked Stephanie to marry him on a moonlit tour of Wright's architectural laboratory.
We thought about having a big, fancy wedding, but have decided we would rather keep things small and intimate, here at the Hyperion Bungalow, right in our back yard. With everything going on, this year, we know that it may be hard for a lot of our friends and family to attend, so we plan to stream the event online so that everyone can celebrate with us, even if they can't be here, in person! We are excited to start the next leg of our journey through the stars together, and to share it with all of you!
