What is the parking situation?
We are conscience that navigating Detroit's parking isn't always easy. With that being said, we will do our best to provide in-depth parking instructions.
To start, the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit has a public parking lot off of Howard St. and St. Anne St. on the West side of the building.
For The State Savings Bank, we will be utilizing the Financial District Garage located on 131 W Lafayette Blvd. Detroit MI, 48226. If you utilize the Shelby St. entrance in and out of the garage, The State Savings Bank is a 500 ft straight walk and is located on the corner of Shelby and W Fort St. This is the most convenient place to park at our venue.
We highly recommend utilizing the complimentary hotel shuttle services if you are staying at our room block at the Atheneum Suite Hotel!
What is the dresscode?
We are hosting a black tie evening. Guests are encouraged to have fun with their fashion choices, we just ask that ladies don't wear white!
Who can I bring?
Our guest list is not open to plus one's and additional people who are not addressed on an invitation. Guest substitutions and additions are not allowed. We care to keep the size of our wedding small and intimate. Because our catering arrangement is specific to our guest list, unanticipated guests cannot be accommodated for. We appreciate your understanding!
What about kids?
To allow all of our guests to relax and enjoy an evening of celebration, this will strictly be an adults only wedding. The only children who will be in attendance are the flower girls and ring bearers. Our venue is aware of these plans and if children are brought, security will enforce this policy and respectfully request that the children not attend. Because our catering arrangement is specific to our guest list, unanticipated guests cannot be accommodated for. We appreciate your understanding!
What is the gifting circumstance?
We are registered at Crate and Barrel and Amazon. Our registry can easily be found through our wedding website under the "registry" tab for your convenience. We are offering the option to bring gifts to the bridal shower or have them shipped to the bride's house if it is a more convenient option. The bride and groom simply appreciate your time and thoughtfulness in considering a gift!
What to expect?
We don't want to give too much away, but this will be a culture fusion wedding! We will be mixing elements of our Albanian American and Lebanese American roots, as well as our Christian Catholic faith in a way that is authentic to us as a couple, and we hope everyone feels comfortable in taking part in the celebration and festivities. Please be prepared to dance, as we enjoy a wide variety of music! If you have sensitive ears, you may wish to bring ear plugs. There will be flashing lights, please take precaution if you or a loved one is sensitive.
Why did you choose your venues?
With a great appreciation for history, religion, culture and art, we knew we wanted to select a church and reception venue that would showcase what we value!
We are very proud of our Catholic faith and call Metro Detroit home, so The Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit was an easy choice. The Basilica was founded in 1701 by French colonist Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac and is the second oldest Catholic church in the US to be continually operating. The basilica is designed as a Gothic Revival styled cathedral and features flying buttresses, gargoyles and some of the oldest stained glass in all of Detroit. It is a breathtaking historical marker of the French influence we enjoy in the city of Detroit.
Likewise, The State Savings Bank was founded in 1883 by its president David Hamilton and quickly became the largest bank in the state of Michigan. It has seen numerous name changes, swaps in ownership and a bank merger that caused its mass expansion. The bank was created with Neo-Classical architecture and soaring 35 ft ceilings. Amidst its many changes in ownership, the bank experienced very few changes in renovation due to the need to conserve building materials during World War 1. Since then, it has ultimately been preserved and later restored to keep its original glory.
We hope our guests enjoy the intimate and unique experience we have curated with all of our favorite people in mind for our wedding day celebration! Ever detail has been an intentional choice and we hope you love the day and the space as much as we do.
