A destination wedding? How do I get there??
We know booking travel can be a little complicated, but in order to make things simple, we have travel agents with Loudon Travel to make booking your stay easier. Please see the travel page of our website for contact details for Maria Crodelle and Maribeth Maloney. We strongly encourage our guests to book through the travel agents so we can keep track of who is coming to Mexico as part of our wedding.
What airport should I fly into?
Your best option is Cancun International Airport (CUN/MMUN), there are many airline options flying from the US including Allegiant, Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, and United (as well as international carriers). There are some other airport options, but transfers to the hotel will not be as easy to obtain.
Do I need a valid passport to travel?
Yes, your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months after the expected travel date in order to fly from the US to Mexico - so make sure your passport is valid through at least May 2025! Note that enhanced license options are not valid for air travel between the US and Mexico.
How do I get to the hotel?
Airport transfers are included when you book through the travel agency, that's why there's a question on your RSVP about your arrival date. Please note that the travel agency will need your flight information at least 60 days prior to departure to make sure this is all set up, even if you do not book your flight with the Loudon Travel.
Is there a room block or a special room rate?
Yes, we will have a block of rooms for the wedding. Please contact the travel agents at Loudon Travel to get yourself booked. Please note that there's a variety of room types at the resort, so if there's a specific class of room you'd like you'll want to book earlier rather than later. Rooms will be first come first serve, so make your reservation ASAP!
It's also worth noting that all that is required to book is a $100 deposit at the time of booking, then the room can either be paid off over time or in full at a later date - please contact our travel agents for more information.
What dates should I plan to stay?
The room block requires a 3 night minim stay, so we would suggest arriving on Saturday, November 9th and departing Tuesday, November 12th if you're just looking to stay the minimum amount of time. You're welcome to book longer stays and different dates, our travel agents will be happy to help you book whatever you're looking to book!
What's included in my stay?
Secrets Akumal is an all-inclusive resort! Check out their website for all of the amenities, restaurants, and activities the resort has. Note that some of the options are not included in the room rate and may require a separate reservation and/or fee.
Can I stay off resort?
We would strongly encourage all of our guests to stay on resort, it's a private resort and it won't be possible to get guest access for the wedding.
Are children invited?
Secrets Akumal is an adults only (18+) resort, so unfortunately children will not be invited for our wedding.
