What airport should I fly into?

You can either fly into Reno International Airport (RNO) or Sacramento International Airport (SMF). The drive to Donner, CA from RNO is a little under an hour and the drive to Donner, CA from SMF is an hour and forty-five minutes.

Do I need to rent a car to get from the airport to Donner, CA?

Renting a car is the preferred and recommended method of transport from the airport as it is the fastest and most reliable. We recommend people pairing up into groups to share a rental making it more cost effective. However, there is a North Lake Tahoe Express shuttle that can take you from Reno International Airport to Truckee. The shuttle requires advanced reservations and it is a fee of $99. Truckee is just 15 minutes down the road from Truckee Donner lodge. From Truckee, you could take a taxi or Uber to the hotel. Additionally, you can take an Uber or Lyft from Reno Airport to Donner, CA.. Pricing is quite variable and can range from $85-$120. However, we cannot guarantee that there will be Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis available in Donner to transport you back to the airport.

What are the accommodations for the wedding?

We have a hotel block reserved at Truckee Donner lodge which will be 10 minutes from Lake Mary for the festivities occurring on 7/28/2025 and 15-20 minutes from the wedding reception/ceremony occurring on 7/29/2025.

How do I book my accommodations at Truckee Donner Lodge?

You can directly call the hotel and mention Stephanie Russo to reserve a room at the hotel block rate.

When should I arrive at Truckee Donner Lodge?

You can check into the hotel as early as 4:00PM on Sunday, July 27th, 2025.

Do I have to attend all the wedding festivities?

No, you can feel free to RSVP only to the events you are able to attend.

Will there be transportation to the wedding events?

There will be no transportation to the events (Lake Day and Welcome Dinner) on Monday, July 28th. We encourage people to carpool to the venue. We will have a shuttle to transport guests to the wedding venue prior to the ceremony and transportation will be provided back to the hotel after the reception. Guests are more than welcome to drive themselves if they’d prefer.

What is the elevation of Sugarbowl Resort?

Sugarbowl resort is located on top of Donner Summit which is at 7,239 feet above sea level. This is important to note because we will be staying in an alpine environment. During the day the temperatures will most likely be in the 80s but at night be prepared for temperatures as low as 50 degrees. Please pack sweaters and jackets for the evenings and early mornings.

Are there bears near the wedding venue?

The Sierra mountains are home to black bears. Black bears are innately scared of humans but they are curious. Please ensure you do not keep any food or possessions with scents in your cars overnight as bears may want to explore and break into your vehicle.

What is supplied at the Lake Mary play day?

We will have sandwiches and fruit for lunch and beverages such as seltzers, soft drinks water, and beer. We will also supply chairs, bug spray, sunscreen, and umbrellas. There will be plenty of games such as corn hole and Jenga. Also, canoes, kayaks and a water trampoline will be available for those that want to swim in the lake. We will not be supplying beach towels so please plan to bring your own towels.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

The dress code is semi formal and the wedding theme is garden party. All guests are encouraged to wear bright and vibrant colors!

Are kids invited to the wedding?

We love all of your children however we are unable to accommodate children at the wedding.
