If you ask us about when we first met, you'll get two different stories! Adel first remembers meeting Steph on a dental school ASDA trip to Louisville, KY. Of course he'd seen her around ASDA events and at school, but had never really spoken to her face to face. They were at Churchill Downs race track for an event, sitting around a table with friends and classmates discussing ideas for fundraisers. Adel remembers one of Steph's ideas was selling ASDA jammies, which is very fitting, since she LOVES jammies.

If you ask Steph when she first remembers meeting Adel, she'll say it was at an ASDA fundraiser event at a bar on Ohio State's campus, Hampton's on King. Someone was singing on the stage in the basement, and Adel ended up jumping right in. He played a few of his original songs on guitar, and Steph remembers standing in the audience listening, thinking "wow, he's really good!".

These events weren't love at first sight. There wasn't a glowing light, swelling music in the background, or

wind blowing through our hair. But, there was enough "something" that when the school started a new program in clinic of pairing third and fourth year students together, Adel jumped at the idea of taking Steph. He was close with his clinic director, and when discussing potential pairs he nonchalantly said he’d take Steph. That decision started a whole year of Adel and Steph having frequent meetings, initially discussing patients, but slowly turning into discussing so much more. What seemed like required clinic meetings at first eventually turned into more and more unplanned coffee runs, trips for hot apple cider, and visits to the hospital cafeteria together. What used to be quietly walking past each other in the halls turned into big smiles and stopping to chat (and not just because Steph carried snacks in her scrub pockets, but that was definitely a plus!).

Adel remembers one day Steph's mom was visiting the clinic for an appointment, and he saw the two of them walking in the hallway. They stopped, and Steph said "this is the guy I was telling you about!". Adel was SO excited to hear that, and thought maybe there was something more happening between them? Was he just a good clinic partner, or was it something else? He still wasn't sure, but as the year went on they both found themselves running into each other everywhere! Those once occasional "clinic meetings" turned into daily conversations that were so looked forward to. Inevitably the moment came when they had to decide what the next steps would be.

It seemed that everyone around them saw something clearly that we only dared to daydream about. Adel's friends would tease him about liking "ASDA girl", but he'd say that they were just friends. Steph's friends would hangout with her and Adel, and quickly realize that their "group hangout" felt more like a date, where they were the third wheel!

Fast forward a few more months, and Steph and Adel finally decided to check out the "something" that was between them and start dating. And good thing they did, because from that moment they knew they were meant to be together. Their relationship was like catching lightning in a bottle, and as they say, the rest is history.
