If you go to Salt Lake City and DON'T take a tour of Temple Square were you even really here? ;) Make the most of your visit with a free tour of Temple Square! You can book a tour in advance, or just head down to the Square and grab any of the friendly sister missionaries. (Fun fact: Yándary served as a Visitors' Center sister missionary in Oakland, California, giving tours to people from all over the world!) Make sure your tour stops at the Christus statue, which is Yándary's very favorite. :)

Crew, Godiva Belgium, Le Creuset, L'Occitane, LOFT, Sephora, Tiffany's, and True Religion.

City Creek is right in the heart of downtown and is easily accessible by Trax. It's been the heart of many a Pókemon catching date for Yándary Stephen. (Lots of Pokestops around, for those who might be interested.) Bonus: it's included in the Trax free-fare zone and is walking distance to many other sites in downtown SLC.

From Scratch

Fun fact: When Yándary and Stephen first started dating, they embarked on a lofty quest to find THE best burger in Salt Lake City. Thanks to their research, you can skip the tour and go straight for the best burger in town! From Scratch literally makes everything from scratch (even the ketchup!), and they have a whole menu of delicious things to choose from, including a great brunch menu!

Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo

Picture of Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo
668 17th St, Ogden, UT 84401, USA

Our wedding weekend happens to be a holiday weekend here in Utah, and if you've never been to a rodeo, may we STRONGLY recommend you go to the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo while you're here? (For our Utah newbies, Pioneer Day is the state holiday celebrating the arrival of the Mormon Pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley.) Yándary grew up in the Ogden area and is a big fan of the Pioneer Days Rodeo. Stephen just likes to dress up and wear the sweet cowboy boots he scored at a local thrift store. ;) Pioneer Day is on Monday, July 24, and the rodeo will conclude with fireworks!

There will also be other events in Ogden connected to Pioneer Day, so make sure you check out the Ogden Pioneer Days website for info! The rodeo runs from July 19-24, giving you ample time to pre- or post-game at the rodeo. Cowboy boots not required. ;)

Salt Lake Bees

If you're in the mood for baseball, you're in luck! The Salt Lake Bees will be playing home games on July 21, 22, 23, and 24! We know you'll be busy partying with us on the 21st, but feel free to catch a game another night that weekend.

Lucky 13

135 W 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84115, USA
(801) 487-4418

Open from 10am-2am, Lucky 13 is the perfect spot to grab a bite almost any time of day! Remember that burger quest we mentioned? Lucky 13 came in at #2 for us. Ask for their monthly special to try exotic options like ostrich or kangaroo burgers. :) Lucky 13 is also conveniently located off the 1300 South (Ballpark) Trax station and is walking distance to the Bees Stadium.

Cafe Guanaco (Pupusería)

Picture of Cafe Guanaco (Pupusería)
499 E 2700 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84115

Cafe Guanaco is one of our favorite pupuserías in SLC! (They'll also be catering our family dinner.) If you've never had a pupusa before, the brides insists you go! Pupusas are a Salvadorian dish, and they are Yándary's very favorite food. She recommends you try the pupusas revueltas ("mixed," meaning they have beans, meat, AND cheese). So good! Oh, and make sure you try the Salvadorian horchata!

Antelope Island State Park Visitors Center

If you get a chance (and have a car) while you're here, take a drive out to see the bison at Antelope Island State Park. (Although warning: take bug spray and sunscreen!) There are plenty of hikes (Frary Peak is a good one!) for those who want to be more active, or it's a nice drive for those who want to see the Great Salt Lake and some awesome scenery.

Fun fact about Antelope Island: this is where we filmed our engagement video! It was so windy on the day we came, we had to come back a week later to finish. Fun fact #2: After Stephen and Yándary's first date, Stephen invited Yándary to play soccer with his friends. She couldn't go, because she had plans to hike with friends at Antelope Island that day. She invited Stephen to come hiking instead. He thought about it... and then realized he couldn't go. Because he had a date with another girl that afternoon. << insert side-eye emoji>> There was no second date. ;)

Ensign Peak

Ensign Peak, Salt Lake City, UT 84103, USA

For those who want to hike but don't want to go TOO far, Ensign Peak is the perfect compromise! It's just over a mile roundtrip, so even though it gets a bit steep, it's not for very long. You'll get awesome views of SLC and the Salt Lake Valley from the top, and you'll get to enjoy a piece of Utah history: Ensign Peak is the spot from which then- LDS Church President Brigham Young fist surveyed the Salt Lake Valley when the Mormon Pioneers arrived in 1847 and selected the site for the Salt Lake Temple.

Bonneville Salt Flats

This one is a bit of a drive (about 2 hours west of SLC), but it is definitely worth it! There are very few places in the world like the Bonneville Salt Flats. Our top 2 tips for your trip out there? 1-wear shoes you're okay to get salt on, and 2- take LOTS of photos!

Sweet Lake Biscuits & Limeade

Picture of Sweet Lake Biscuits & Limeade

(801) 997-9220

For Stephen's 32nd birthday, Yándary planned a surprise party at a trampoline gym... Followed by brunch at Sweet Lake Biscuits & Limeade. She has since declared it her favorite brunch spot in the city. (And what kinds of hosts would we be if we didn't give you a good brunch recommendation for the day after our wedding??) Come early, make sure you order a limeade, and be sure to try the Hoss or the Biscuits Benedict! We promise you won't regret it!

Main Street, Park City, UT, United States

About a half hour outside of Salt Lake (or less if Stephen is driving!), is the fantastic town of Park City. Home to world-class ski resorts, shopping, restaurants, outdoor adventures, and the 2002 Olympic Park, there's something for everyone here. We recommend strolling along Main Street, peeking in the shops, and grabbing a bite to eat.

Ogden's Historic 25th Street

Picture of Ogden's Historic 25th Street
25th Street, Ogden, UT, United States

Ogden's historic 25th Street is one of the best spots to visit in Ogden! You'll find shopping, art, dining, historic Union Station, and even a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings.Often chided as Salt Lake City's devious little sister, Historic 25th Street has been breaking the notions of conservative Utah for more than a century. With nicknames like Notorious Two Bit Street and Electric Alley, this street has seen it all.

Whether you're killing some time before the sealing ceremony at the Ogden Temple on our wedding day, or looking for pre-rodeo entertainment another night, 25th Street is the place to be! And while you're strolling about Ogden, keep an eye out for the "Trail to Pioneer Days" horses (consisting of more than 60 life-size fiberglass horses leading the way to the Pioneer Days Stadium), one of the largest public art projects of its kind in Utah.

The Rest

Picture of The Rest
331 S. Main St. Salt Lake City, UT
(801) 532-4452

Once upon a time, Stephen bet Yándary that she would not finish crocheting a blanket for her nephew by Christmas. At stake? Dinner for two at The Rest, Salt Lake's own speakeasy. Alas, Stephen won that bet, but thanks to a foolish choice on his part (betting double-or-nothing on something related to a garden hose), Yándary didn't have to take him to dinner. But that doesn't mean YOU shouldn't get to eat here! Those in the know know there's more to "The Bodega" on Main Street than meets the eye. Make a reservation online (scroll down to the bottom of this website), or walk in and ask to sit at the bar. (Oh, and just a heads up: The Rest is a 21+ venue, so kids won't be allowed.) Happy eating!
