Stephen and Jessica first met at their local church’s youth group and were acquaintances up until they started serving as student interns. Their youth pastor (Daniel Tedder, who will be officiating the wedding) asked the group of awkward-high-school-interns to not be so awkward and meet someone in the group they didn’t know very well. Stephen was the first to volunteer, saying “I don’t know Jessica very well,” and thus, a friendship was born. But these two love birds wouldn’t find love until about a year and a half later when they were once again serving at their local church, setting up for Vacation Bible School. At the end of stacking chairs and lugging game supplies, Stephen asked if Jessica would be interested in “getting coffee sometime.” They opted for Chick-Fil-A instead, learning that they both love Jesus, rock n’ roll, and video games. From there, they both developed a mutual crush for each other.
Over the next several months, Stephen and Jessica became best friends until Jessica’s senior ditch day, where they went up to Denver with some friends. At the top story of a Hard Rock café, Stephen asked Jessica if she wanted to “call it for what it is” and make their dating relationship official. Thus, a beautiful relationship began on May 19, 2017. The rest is history.
Stephen and Jessica’s relationship continued to grow stronger and deeper over the next three and a half years. Many video games, adventures, coffees, and Chick-Fil-A dates later, they decided that they always want to do life together. On September 12, 2020, Stephen and Jessica got engaged and will commit themselves to loving each other forever on July 31, 2021.
