Kailyn is the bride’s younger sister and someone incredibly special in her life. The two share a unique bond, both born deaf and now hear with cochlear implants, and they face Usher Syndrome together with incredible strength and love. One of their favorite memories is sharing a room with loft beds and watching H2O: Just Add Water on their hot pink futon!

Eric is the oldest of the Oja siblings and Stephen’s go-to for life advice. Stephen looks up to him the most—whether it’s about money, career, or just navigating life. One of his favorite memories is the two of them picking out games at Blockbuster and playing PS2 for hours. A true big brother in every sense.

Eric Oja 

Courtney is the bride’s older sister, biggest motivator, and strongest role model. That’s what big sisters are for! She’s been guiding Brittany through life since day one and is always there to cheer her on. Courtney says, “Having you as a sister is like having a partner in crime. Then we added Ryan and Kailyn to the party, and it just kept getting more fun. Watching you fall in love and do life with your best friend is my favorite recent memory. You’re my role model, and you'll become the best auntie. Love you!"

Andy is also Stephen’s older brother and someone he turns to often for career and life advice. They overlapped in college with Stephen as an undergrad and Andy in grad school, and made great memories along the way. One of Stephen’s favorite memory is visiting Andy in Colorado, exploring his new home, and grabbing In-N-Out after a day of sightseeing. They also took an unforgettable trip to Europe together, adding even more to their shared adventures.

Mary is the bride’s college roommate and one of her closest friends. She was there the day Brittany and Stephen met and has been part of so many unforgettable college memories—like themed Fridays during COVID, house parties, board games, and endless rounds of Skip-Bo and Five Crowns. One of their favorite stories is from a game of Chameleon, when all the guys were accusing each other, only to find out Brittany was the chameleon the whole time—she and Mary just sat back and stayed quiet. A memory that always makes them laugh is when Brittany, bored in the living room, would text Mary “come be my friend,” and they’d end up chatting the night away.

Mary Donovan Evers

Ryan is Brittany’s brother and someone Stephen has grown close with over the years. They share a love for coding and computers, and even earned the same degree in college. One of their favorite memories is hanging out at Green Lake—playing bags, boating, and drinking cold beer on a summer day.

Ryan Huellen 

Jill is one of the bride’s closest college friends. From themed Fridays during COVID to cozy weekends filled with board games and card games, they shared some of the best memories together. Most weekends were spent hanging out in Brittany’s apartment, which was always cozy and decked out for the holidays—one of their favorite places to be. Brittany made everyone feel extra special on their 21st birthdays by baking cakes and decorating. A standout memory together is their graduation trip to Myrtle Beach—stress-free, full of laughter, and the perfect way to wrap up college.

Jill Carter

Jason is one of Stephen’s closest friend from high school and college, and he’s been there through it all—including the night Stephen met Brittany. They were college roommates, shared a love for computers, gaming, and anime, and even graduated with the same degree. One of their favorite memories is bonding over the release of Fortnite in 2018, staying up all night playing and laughing together.

Annmarie is a special friend to both the bride and groom. Brittany will never forget the day they met—Annmarie’s bright energy, outgoing personality, and fun-loving presence made her unforgettable from the start. They first bonded in her parents’ basement over TV shows, movies, and board games. Brittany and Stephen truly wouldn’t be where they are today without her. Annmarie also played a big role in helping them take that first step in becoming a couple. Annmarie kept asking Stephen if Brittany was his girlfriend yet!

Ethan is one of Stephen’s closest friends from high school and someone who never fails to make him laugh. They’ve always bonded over their love of movies and shared sense of humor. One of Stephen’s favorite memories is their many trips to Country Donuts for coffee, laughs, and good conversation.

Ethan Tarlow

Cheyenne is a special friend to both the bride and groom. She’s outgoing, full of energy, and always so fun to be around. Brittany remembers meeting her at one of Stephen’s bonfires when they had just started dating—there was an instant friendship bond, and they’ve been close ever since. A favorite memory together is when Cheyenne came down to visit ISU while touring for grad school. Brittany made sure to give her a proper intro to campus life with cold beers and cheeseballs at Pub II!

Raj is another one of Stephen’s closest friends from high school. They bonded over their shared love of movies and anime, and spent countless hours geeking out together. One of Stephen’s favorite memories is helping Raj make his Star Wars fan film, with plenty of time spent hanging out at Starbucks and Panera.

He recently got married as well, and Stephen was honored to be part of his special day. Brittany and Stephen couldn’t imagine their wedding without him too!

Stephen and Brittany met at Illinois State University back in March 2018 and had an instant connection. It just felt easy from the start. They started doing everything together, from late-night study sessions, snack &amp; McDonald's runs, football tailgates, movie nights, dinner dates, and yes, a fair amount of pretending to be productive at the library! Cozy game nights have always been a big part of their relationship. Whether we’re playing on the Nintendo Switch or playing Fortnight or Marvel Rivals, it’s something they always look forward to after a long day of work! Stephen also introduced Brittany to a bunch of his favorite hobbies—Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons &amp; Dragons, and One Piece! Brittany’s family has a cottage in Green Lake, Wisconsin, and it’s become one of their favorite places. When Stephen went for the first time, he was in complete awe. It’s where they go to relax—swim, hang on the boat, and drink cold beers during the summer months. And now it’s where they will be getting married, which makes it even more special!! They've shared some awesome trips over the years—from hiking around the Grand Canyon, to the First Oja Family trip to Disney World, to the mountain views in Colorado and Tennessee. But one of the biggest highlights? A completely spontaneous, dream trip to Tokyo, Japan. It was unreal and something they will never forget. Brittany graduated from ISU in 2021, and Stephen followed in 2022—which meant a full year of long distance (they don’t miss that). But made it through and finally moved in together in Fall 2023. Not long after, they adopted their first kitten, Grogu, and later brought home Pandora. They both bring them so much extra love to their little family! And then—on July 4th, 2024—Stephen proposed on the pier at the lakehouse, and Brittany said YES!!! Now here they are—planning a wedding, building a life together, and so excited for everything ahead. They can’t wait to celebrate with you and start this next chapter with the people they love most.
