"And then I met you, and slowly but all at once my whole world began to change"

It aaaaalllll started on February 3rd, 1997 when MaryAlice Sheets was born. 24 years later at her birthday party, Sterling and Claudia’s worlds would finally be connected, after somehow not ever meeting during the four years the two spent at Texas A&M. Claudia and Sterling immediately hit it off, spending the night listening to stories told by the other, playing pool with men in motorcycle gangs, and eating McDonald’s with all of their best friends around.

As with any modern-day romance, Claudia reached out to Sterling on Instagram, hoping to spark up another conversation. After a week of some back and forth flirting, Claudia invited Sterling to come spend a day in Houston. Caught off guard, but with a grin on his face, Sterling more than happily agreed to take the hilarious red head he had met a few weeks before on a date in Houston, a city he knew nothing about. February 13th, the day of the date arrived, and Sterling drove an hour and a half to Houston, both excited about and terrified of what he had agreed to. Little did he know, this first date was merely the beginning.

After 3 hours at El Tiempo, as the two began falling for each other over Dos Equiis and queso, the pair began thinking about when they would be able to see each other again. In the spirit of love, the state of Texas decided to make the decision easy for the two, as the entire state froze over on February 14th. Sterling and Claudia’s first date turned quickly into six days of Disney movies, pizza rolls, card games, and two strangers becoming best friends with hopes of something more. Sterling fondly recalls finally leaving Houston and thinking of Claudia, “Boy! I’m in trouble!”. He could not wait to tell his parents about the beautiful redhead who had caught his eye (and frankly, at this point, his heart too). On March 12th, 2021, Sterling asked Claudia to be his girlfriend, and the rest is (our) history.
