On a cold February Sunday afternoon, Linda decided to give online dating one more chance. And she's so happy she did! Sitting in a hotel in cold Wisconsin, instead of a beach in Hawaii, as a result of a delayed flight change, was Steve. Steve pulled out his phone and opened Facebook dating and saw Linda's profile. He sent her a like and a message. She checked out his profile and was intrigued - a straight flight attendant. So she replied!
They exchanged several messages that evening. The next day Linda was working a basketball game after school with a good friend, Holly Robinson. Holly knew Linda had put up her profile less than 24 hours before, but wanted to know if she had met anyone. She told her about him. Holly replied, I know a straight flight attendant named Steve. He worked as a bartender where her and her former coworkers use to go. Linda showed her his profile and it was the same guy. She told Linda to go for it, they would totally hit it off. Steve was coming home the next day and he asked Linda on a first date. With Holly's stamp of approval, Linda said yes. On Tuesday, February 8, Linda and Steve had their last ever, first date! They met at Fong's Pizza in Ankeny. They were there for quite awhile and hit it off. Steve walked Linda to her car and gave her a hug goodbye. Unknown to Linda, on Friday morning, Steve order Valentine's Day flowers for her to be delivered on Monday. They then met up for a date on Friday and Saturday evening, then met for breakfast on Sunday morning. Steve had his son, Charlie, so the evenings dates were on a time limit. They had a fabulous weekend learning about each other and finding many ways that their lives overlapped. On Monday, February 14, Holly walked into Linda's classroom carrying a bouquet of flowers. She giggled and said, "I already read the card". The flowers and card were perfect. Steve made Linda dinner that night. They both deleted their profiles and began their journey together.
On March 4, 2022, they made their relationship known to all their friends by taking their first photo together and putting it on Facebook.
Over the next several months, Steve and Linda grew closer and closer and believed they were a perfect match! They met each other's families and friends, traveled, enjoyed hockey and other sporting events, holidays, and just being together.
Happy Fabulous Fifty to Linda! February 20, Linda was turning 50. So on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Moose Lodge, Linda, Steve, along with many friends celebrated her birthday. Steve made a wonderful spaghetti dinner and Haywire performed. Toward the end of the evening, in the middle of a slow dance, in front of friends, Steve got down on one knee and asked Linda to marry him. She said YES, although Steve didn't hear her. They hugged and kissed, then called Linda's mom and Steve's parents.
